imo, you need a balanced mix of youth/veterens, look at edmonton, loaded with young number 1 picks and nothing really else, i just dont ever see them becoming a nhl force, they have like 5 or 6 of the same guy and they all do the same thing.
- mydoglicks

I could easily see them moving Hall for a big time defenseman. They are overloaded with top notch offensive talent right now.

That is simple. I wonder why the guys running the team with years of experience haven't done that. Maybe you should be GM.
- NickTheKid87

Well I sure as hell wouldn't be trading 3 picks for oats or picking up Burke or trading my whole roster for lindros. I'd also drAft a dman and goalie once in the while in the 1st round instead of drafting centers and signing fa centers

Are you asking us whether we think Richards or Giroux is better? If so, why?
- NickTheKid87

Just compare what both bring to the table, what does 1 do that the other doesn't do and think about what they born do but the other is better at...

I personally think Brayden Schenn will become more of a dynamic and offensively gifted player then Sean Couturier but some feel Couturier will be a better player because of his balance game

If they move Hall the GM should be fired and the owner should just sell the team. He's a game changer on that team. The other forwards have skill but Hall has presence.

I wanted to ask a question I didn't get a chance to ask last night. Many have their own opinion of who will turn out to be better, Sean Couturier or Brayden Schenn. My question is who do you think is a better player, Micah Richards or Claude Giroux? Right now, send to deal with me and consider the balance of both players.
- SuperSchennBros

Giroux hands down. He is a top 10 talent in the league. The rivalry between Crosby and Giroux will be fun to watch over the next 5-7 years

Again, Laughton doesn't project to be the same kind of player Couturier does.
- Jsaquella

Yes I'm well aware. Laughton will be a good solid defensive 3rd line center. That's all we need for that position. Coots has max value. If we didn't have Laughton or talbot to fill coots role on tHis team I wouldn't say use him as trade bait.

I think the Lindros trade was good. Had injury not derailed his career, we'd be talking about one of the greatest players ever.

Also, Holmgren wasn't the GM when they traded for Oates and Burke, nor when they traded for Lindros.

There's been discussion in the Pens thread on would you trade Letang for Eberle straight up?

Giroux' line plays Crosby even, Malkin is shut down by Couts and fruit bat scores the game winning goal?

I've seen that movie before.

Giroux. Because he has shown the ability to be an elite level scorer.

If you're asking this in regards to Couturier and Schenn, the difference is, that Neither Couturier or Schenn project to be the kind of offensive force that Giroux can be.

It's interesting. The Pens have so much depth at the D position, and Eberle would be a 40+ goal scorer on Crosby's wing. It would be hard to replace Letang...........he will win a Norris in the next few years. He is a top 10, if not top 5 defenseman.

Yeah, makes perfect sense to sell low on a guy with Couturier's two way potential because they have a guy who could be the next John Madden.

Simple.

If you can get OEL for Couturier straight up, make the trade. The problem is, you likely can't right now. So rather than making a deal that costs more right now, hold off and see if the market adjusts.

Sam Gagne is probably going to be the available forward there for now but either way I don't trade Letang for forward help if I'm Pittsburgh. I would hold onto Letang as tightly as I would Crosby and Malkin.

Pretty much the 4 untouchables are Malkin, Crosby, Neal, and Letang. You could also say Fleury.

The benefit of having a supreme talent like Crosby is that you can put guys like Dupuis and Kunitz on his wing and he'll still score 100+ points easily. That way, you can focus more money in other areas. Letang is a legit #1 defenseman. I wouldn't be so eager to move him just for the satisfaction of seeing Crosby play with Eberle.

Not a slight to Neal, but Letang is more of an untouchable than he is imo

Good thing the two GM's who made those trades aren't the GM anymore then.
