Ideally yes, Kadri should stay but if they were to make that trade, O'Reilly is the better, proven, all around player.
- Two_For_Truth

FAIL - Kadri has more upside.. he could potentially be a first line center.. ROR ha little to no chance of ever being that.

I would not trade Kadri until we get a few seasons of play.. to properly evaluate him.

He has a lot of work to do.. but has been improving on all accounts as the season goes on.. and he still hasn't filled out.

I am hard on the kid.. but I wouldn't trade him for ROR.

no problem, i would never compare O'Reilly to Gilmour. i was there when he was performing all that magic
- bobbyisno1

Totally agree and although Grabo who has put up a few 50+ seasons... I would trade him straight for ROR.. I just don't think the Avs would be up for it..

I think with Grabo.. and I like him.. we know he will score 50 pts a year.. but his days are numbered.. I would do that deal for a prospect.

Who is Beatle John...?

Definitely not a Cans fan... two of my 3 bans.. have been to Cans fans... I actually... called them losing.. told them there would be a riot.. and was on here till the early hours of the morning dishing it to those douche bags... it was well worth a ban... LOL

The other was a Habs fan that has a Ginger bread man dressed like a gay pirate.. after the Leafs destroyed the Habs... he came in trolling and after an hour I couldn't take it any more.

Dozzer banned me rightly for 4 hours probably deserved more.. he even apologized while doing so... mad props.. and it was deserved.. I talked about him taking baths with his mom...lol

I did say it wouldn't happen because of the salary.. but NO First.. EVER.. it would have to be a number 1 center who is proven for me to say yes to that...

we have to learn from our mistakes...

JVR Kadri Fratten
Kulimen Bozak Komarov

Kadri has more offensive talent but nowhere near the defensive or complete game. If you're expecting a the 1st line center out of Kadri, expect to be disappointed.

Hypothetical question: Is Kadri's stock high enough and ROR's low enough right now that it would be possible to do a one-for-one flip?

I doubt it, would probably have to give them a defender as well.

Should be close, yes, but the goal should be to find a way to acquire O'Reilly while keeping Kadri, among the other young guys they have.

Yes, because you would need to be high to think that NHL coaches have shelf lives.

The guy won a cup in Anaheim and still only lasted 6.25 seasons.

For the record, here's the career of Scotty Bowman, the greatest coach of all time:

St. Louis: 3.5 years
Montreal: 8 years
Buffalo: 6.5 years
Pittsburgh: 2 years
Detroit: 9 years

Average: 5.8 years

- Leeman4Gilmour

Not to belabour the point too much, but let's just look closer to home: the semi-recent history of Leafs coaches.

Ron Wilson: 2008-2012
Paul Maurice: 2006-2008
Pat Quinn: 1998-2006 (minus a lost season)
Mike Murphy: 1996-1998
Pat Burns (best Leafs coach of the modern era): 1992-1996

So what the heck do the Leafs do with Gardiner? From what I've read, he's looking awesome with the Marlies, but as I understand it all the Leafs D would have to pass through waivers. With how surprisingly solid the guys from the Marlies who made the Leafs have been, you'd really hate to have one of them get poached by another team. I mean, this is one of those good problems to have right?

Now we 're talking about trading Kadri + for O'Reilly...

I am as hard as many on Kadri.. and he will iron out his wrinkles under Carlyle.. he has the potential to be a 70 pt guy... maybe more..

Sorry you guys lost me.. I don't rate any 50 pt one season wonder... any higher than a prospect.. and with 3 full seasons under his belt.. I don't think he will ever score 70.. that makes him second line...

How low does our first pick have to be before we trade it? I cannot see us dropping below, Washington, Florida, Winnipeg, Columbus, Calgary, Islanders so best we could pick (unless we want to rely on the lottery is 7th) I would say Ottawa, Buffalo are probably below us too so probably no better than 10th..... maybe as bad as 17th -20th...... I like Gardiner better than any of those picks if we get Reilly.
