Would you consider this? Since Anaheim may lose their whole team this year. Getzlaf,Perry UFAs and Selanne,Koivu retiring. Think they would?
To: Anaheim
Grabovski (4 years remaining at 5.5)
Kulemin (1 year remaining at 2.8, then RFA)
Prospect -Blacker,Percy,Finn. One of them
2nd round pick, becomes 1st if he resigns by the draft
To: Toronto
Corey Perry
Then they trade Getzlaf to another team and get another big package deal. Once Perry signs here after we make the playoffs, Getzlaf does too.
Boom! lol
2013-14 Leafs
Lupul Getzlaf Perry
JVR Kadri Kessel
Komarov McClement Frattin
Another 4th line of punchies
Phaneuf Holzer
Gardiner Franson
Rielly Kostka
This is getting out of hand lol - t_leafs21
..or Anaheim keeps their stars cause they are the second best team in the nhl

I think they're screwed. They're looking poised to win the the division how are they going to trade them. Unless they get a nice enough lead to move them at the deadline then just hope they can hang on and still get playoff revenue. - t_leafs21
Why, so they can (frank) off for another 5 years? The ducks want to stay relevant, those two guys give them a spotlight. If they manage to resign both (which they will) they'll be in a good position for at least three years to come.
The best part is they drafted well the last few seasons, so by the time these guys are ready to ship out they'll have a new core of guys taking the reins. |

I think some people are mistaking wins for having played well. imo the Leafs didn't play well against Ottawa or Florida - it just happens that those teams are poopy. Not saying they are awful and/or that it needs to be blown up - but there is definitely some room for some changes. - BlowMonkey

why would he feel threatened if "the burglar" was locked in the bathroom, legs or no legs?...wait for the bathroom door to open to see who it is before deciding to shoot.....sorry for the pun, but his story has no legs |

What if they don't want to though?
I have a feeling Perry doesn't and Getzlaf doesn't know what to do if Perry doesn't want to stay.
My point is, once you've won all there is to win, maybe it's time for a change. Would playing for your favourite team that you grew up your entire life watching not entice you?
Perry was born in 1985. He was 8 and 9 when the Leafs lost in the conference finals back to back with Gilmour and Clark. Man, I know he's thinking about it. |

Wath if both Perry and Getzlaf want to stay in Anaheim, they seem to have a pretty good season so far with Boudreau at the helm and, let's face it, California is a pretty sweet place to live. - Pecafan Fan
while i am not trying to disagree with your post that one spot stuck out for me
i remember mcdonald telling me that it wasnt the best living there.. too cramped.
however.. that being said.. if the ducks make a push and gain some playoff revenue neither of those guys are going anywhere |

I for one wouldn't move to California. But, if I was a young hockey player with millions in the bank, showing up at the rink in a convertible ferrari and wearing flip flops would be appealing to me.

It's also worth noting that California has the third highest tax rate in the US on income above 1 million dollars (Hawaii and Oregon are #1/#2) |

I honestly believe that the allure of playing for your home town team diminishes when you live is beautiful California and millions. |

counter to this argument (since we're making assumptions here)
perry and getzlaf already quit playing for carlyle once.. why would they sign with the team that hired him? |

Two things that have made me a happy Leaf fan so far this season.
1. RC has implemented a much more sound system, that is winning and keeping games close, even when the team is sluggish. When the team has the lead, the fear of a massive brain fart that leads to them losing is gone. Is it perfect every night, No. But it is much, much improved over previous years.
2. The constant Kadri is a bust from the trolls (and many leaf fans for that matter) has stopped. Kid has been the best player on the team so far this season imo, in all 3 zones of the ice. Would love to see a trial of him and Kessel, but think RC treating him perfectly. Basically keeping him away from the other teams top line while he continues to mature and gain experience/confidence. - vermie22
I am fully with you on your first point and that is what has me in a chipper mood.. competing most nights.
Kadri has done well but you might be ahead of yourself... he is perfect on the 3rd line as he irons out his wrinkles... he has improved the last couple of games after getting screamed at for coughing up pucks that lead to rushes.. but it is still a work in progress he is improving though.. faceoffs need improvement and he still needs to gain a bit more strength. But he manages to get points in games.. and that has been excellent.
This is still a learning season and I think Carlyle has him set-up well on the third line.. just enough minutes to learn.. and then some PP time to boot.. let's not burn this guy out.. he still needs to develop and round out his game.
For me Kessel has been better he has played all 3 zones.. has contributed almost a point a game.. and even when he didn't score he assisted well.. not to mention he is a +5.
But am pleased with Kadri's development.. can't wait for Frattin to get back.. Mac A is no where near the same.. think keeping a tough guy with Kadri might be a good idea.. so no one takes liberties with our future. Never mind Orr almost scored again yesterday.. he is getting some good chances in front of goal.

He only won the cup and then the rocket richard in 2011 with Carlyle. No big deal though. |

No, I'm not implying that it is better than Ontario's, but it is a reason why they may consider testing free agency. |

sorry to burst your bubble man but toronto isnt looking for wingers.. they are looking for a centre.
wishful thinking is nice.. but try to give it a dose of reality here and there. and the truth is.. the chances of perry and/or getzlaf ending up in toronto are very minimal no matter how you twist it. |

Orr was a quiet observer as Kadri got in 3 quick and solid shots on Hedman in that scrum. Do you think Kadri would've had more than just the big Swede to deal with if Orr wasn't on the ice?
