were the fans pushing the "roy is a cancer" thing? i dont remember hearing it a lot from the organization.

the fans were obviously just being optimistic. i really dont think theres some type of conspiracy at play.

- Putzfrau

Of course the organization was. Ruff publicly called him out and Roy fired back. Then they traded him. Don't get me wrong, I was fine with him leaving. The point is that he was another Ruff scapegoat. Just like Pominville will become.

I made the Roy point earlier and its totally valid. Would be curious to see Roys faceoff stats too.
- sambarugh

We were over 50% today and I know it was exactly 50% against Pittsburgh on Sunday. So that excuse isn't even a valid one at this point.

opinions vary

Don't blame the Yankees, the Jays, Angles, Marlins, Braves and Dodgers to name a few have all done it.

Steve Ott brings a certain type of game that the Sabres needed. Yes its a lower scoring game than Roy, but its much phyically in your face game he brings. He's already becoming one of the faces of the franchise in the locker room. Its the other members of the team that are failing in scoring, Hecht, Stafford, Foligno, Gerbe. You can't have lines 3 and 2 with almost no scoring and expect results.

sorry, i'm not buying into this conspiracy theory you're pushing. ruffs "behavior" is plainly apparent in the way the team plays. there's no scapegoating that. people have been blaming him for years. i doubt the organization removed roy because of ruff. they probably just saw an obnoxious party boy that wasn't doing anyone any help in the locker room, so they moved him.

i doubt at any point it was this calculated plan to pull the wool over our eyes.

Ott is good. No complaints about him. Are we better off without Roy? Worse? Or exactly the same?

So trade a winger for him. We were thin at center and we traded a 2C for a 3W.

better off, in my opinion. scoring isn't our problem. soft centers isn't our problem. roys faceoff numbers aren't good enough to make up for our faceoff problem.

i'd argue vanek plays worse with roy than without him.

I just think 2 years in a row Roy got hurt, the team improved, they learned to live without him.

That would put him 2nd on the Sabres at center behind Cody McCormick who has taken almost 200 less faceoffs.

our wingers blow. who is there beyond vanek/pom.

stafford doesnt score. foligno isn't here to put up 60 points. the third and fourth lines can't be counted on for points.

we have one good winger and another decent one. after that its trash and 20 year olds.
