I thought of Boyle earlier today to, because I know they have an abundance of defense, and the Sharks were scouting the Rangers a couple of weeks back. You get Jimbo's right hand shot for the power play, but Boyle is at $6.5 million + this year and next. I just can't see how next year works, even if the Rangers could make it work from a personnel perspective. It is unfortunate his contract doesn't expire after this year.

yeah, I have thought about this too, I think Torts would love Boyle

the Nash trade has not been the problem for the Rangers.

It's been letting Prust, Fedotenko and Mitchell go and replacing them with Halpern, Asham and Pyatt

and an extremely horrible powerplay

I remember all those rumors in the offseason of Boyle for Gaborik. That is really the only way it works from a money standpoint. But Rangers can't do that, especially with their team struggling to score.

Yeah, i like boyle though. He'd be a great fit.

How about jay bowumeester ?

I just wanted to let you know that just took a look at a list of the Top 50 or so defensemen on the power play, and there is none of them that are arguably available, with right handed shots, that can help the Rangers. So, just so you know, we are basically screwed. Unless, of course, you want to bring on another left handed shot. Then there are options.

I just had a flashback of Leetch and Zubov on the PP points, God, that must of been terrifying for the opposing teams back then. One of the best tandems on the PP in my humble opinion.

The only way the Rangers get Boyle is for them to give up a significant young asset that can help the Sharks now, and have the Sharks eat 1/2 of Boyle's hit.

It would basically be the Rangers making a win now Tony Amonte/Doug Weight type trade. And, not to mention, the Sharks have their own Cup aspirations this year, so why even consider giving up Boyle, unless for an established forward.

That might be the last time that the Rangers had a decent power play.

Wasn't the Jagr-Nylander-Straka powerplay half decent? Maybe not, I can't remember

yeah, that was a good 3 up front too, completely forget who we had at the points, then again, Jagr used to slip back to the point.

I can't believe McDonough hasn't turned into the offensive threat I thought he would at season's end last year. Thought he would give PP a boost

The Rangers should watch video of the Pens power play. Everything is sent towards the net, not one person standing still, good flow. Its the polar opposite of what the Rangers do.

How many goals did Pruster score last season, way way too much stock being bought on Prust being the reason we are struggling, he didn't do a dam thing for Gabby or Richards last season, those two need to take some pride and step the fuk up.

Besides Nash, the other so-called top forwards on the team Richards and Gaborik, seem content with trying to blend in instead of lead.

When youngsters like Stepan and Hagelin thoroughly outplay you, lately on a nightly basis, that is a huge cause for concern. If they looked half competent last night, the Rangers escape with at least a point.

They need to be better than this, plain and simple.

- MidnightMarauder

Gabby doesn't 'lead' -he's a stealth player who either scores or he doesnt.
He doesn't typically do highlight reel (Nash) stuff - just gets in
Positions to score, which he is doing at his normal pace so far this
Year. I remember the game years ago when he scored 4 against
The rags - I had heard he was good but didn't really see evidence
Of it - just 4 freakin goals on the score sheet. I wouldnt worry
Myself about expecting him to 'look' a certain way - just keep putting
The puck in the twine.

I think Jimbo posted that the Rangers would have to pay Richards $24 million in real cash if they bought him out this summer. I know the organization has a ton of money, but that is a ton of scratch to pay to buy-out a player after only 2 years of a nine year contract. He wasn't terrible last year, and we are only 15 games into this season. Let's give it a little time.
- Pete V

Lets not forget what Richards did in the playoffs,
Which is what they really got him for...

That's another reason that makes this unacceptable ,we know what he can do, why isn't he doing it?

If they lose to Ottawa idk how they are going to compete with the likes of the Bruins, Devils and Pens. Hopefully Nash can rejoin them on Saturday, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

Yeah it doesn't look good on the Nash front.

Im still waiting for a full 60mins from this team. Once that game happens, i think all the other problems will fix themselves. Except maybe the power play... That thing is awful

I'm truly hoping that the absence of Nash will allow the this team to re-find last years identity. To me, the roster turnover excuse is bullsh!t. Every team has it, some more than other but it's always there. Be professionals and move on.

If Nash returns then maybe the rest of the team will have settled into their own skins and will be able to incorporate Nash as opposed to rely on him.

he cant/wont fly out to Montreal. they're just saying he might so fans dont start to panic

he's concussed bro

- Crimsoninja

The league and teams have standardized tests they must administer
to any player showing signs of or believed to be concussed.

Do you take warm-ups. like Nash did, to see how you feel before playing if you were concussed and passed those tests?

Why would you be prevented from flying if it was a groin pull unless you wanted to remain in NY for treatment.....of the groin pull?

It is rumored that if in fact, it is a concussion, it was suffered from the Lucic hit on February the 12th in Boston. Nash played in the following 2 games showing no ill effects of post concussion syndrome or a groin injury.

As of right now, I don't think any of use really knows just what is ailing Rick Nash.
