Great article! I remember hearing 5 years ago about how "great" the Oilers will be in 3 years!

I don't remember one person ever saying how great the Flames will be. The Oilers are a much improved team and anybody who says otherwise clearly isn't paying attention. Not a contender yet, but well on their way. But I guess that's the difference between the Flames and Oilers.. it's kind of hard to not meet expectations for your team when there are none.

Yup. Our defence is now impregnable. Truthfully, Im just killing time until we win the Stanley Cup. Cloutier assured me that we would this year, and I know you two are tight.

We're 1/4 of the way into the season. If you think the Oilers aren't a much improved team compared to last year then you clearly don't know hockey and/or haven't been paying attention to the Oilers this year. Also, last time I checked, the Flames were below the Oilers in the standings..

CGY with games in hand and if I remember correctly, EDM was in a good position for part of the season last year until they fell off a cliff. Not sure I see any reason to believe it will be any different this year.

I suppose I wouldn't follow games played if I cheered for Calgary either. That said, there's no more games in hand, bud. Furthermore, had Dallas not played a shooter-tutor during their games against the Flames your record would be much worse. Don't stop believing!

I think you're missing the point.

As for the Dallas game, what do you think we were playing in net? It was shooter tutor vs. shooter tutor.

Enjoy your whopping 2 point lead

Actually, CGY has played their games in hand and both teams sit at 14gp. CGY has also given up 51g tied for 3rd most in the league. Good to see you actually follow your team.

Looks like everyone is having trouble with this.

Current standings have the Oilers with 15 points, Calgary with 13 points. Both have the same games played.

Yes yes the flamers are heading in the right direction please do not change a thing

you are aware that your team is closer to last place than a playoff position?

you do know that since the lock out of 04-05 the oilers have won more playoff games than the flamers?

Do the oiler's have a 3 round pick scoring more points in first year in the NCAA than first rounder Mark the Janitor Jankowski?

You are aware that Sam Gagner has more points than any flamer?

Are you aware Dubnyk beats the flamer's flock of goalies in every stat?

Yes yes the flamers are heading in the right direction please do not change a thing

Great article. Anyone who says the Flames should blow it up.. has not paid attention to the Calgary Flames.. or most likely hockey in general.

The Flames "rebuild" comes with moving from the defensive Sutter system to the offensive Hartley system.
The Flames "rebuild" comes with signing guys like Wideman, Hudler, Roman, and making trades which include possible future netminders like Ramo.
The Flames "rebuild" comes with knowing the trade value is raised on guys like TJ Brodie and JayBo, since the new system appeals to their uptempo game.
The Flames "rebuild" is supposed to show off the skill moving forward of guys like Sven (hurt), Backlund (hurt), Stemp, etc.

While the Flames record can't be argued with, the direction of the team can be. Once again I repeat, if a flames fan says "blow the team up" I really would question what kind of hockey watcher they are.
