Pretty sure Hall has 15 pts in 14 games while shooting 5.3 % rate, when does potential go out the window.
What is the peak for Baertschi? If he turns into Hemsky (points wise) i have to think you'd be pretty happy. I don't know if he will be as goof though imo - Oil_Addict
Hopefully without the injuries... but yeah I'd be happy if that's how he turns out on a PPG basis. |

Both teams have been mismanaged. The Flames have painted themselves into a corner, and I'm curious how they get out of it.
I don't defend the decisions that the Flames have made, but I'm sick of hearing how the Oilers model is the template to follow when they haven't proven anything. |

Ahhh... I love it. Funny how delayed this blog post was after reading what the Edmonton counterpart posted this morning. You know things are trending up when one side becomes defensive.
I realize that this blog is Flames-central, but some of the statements made have me shaking my head. Firstly, Feaster has "turned this team around"? If that were the case why have the Flames continued to drop in the standings since his hiring?
Flames fans like to poke fun at Oiler supporters as "living in the past". Really? I just read that in the last ten years the Flames have made the playoffs four times, the Oilers twice. Who's living in the past now. By the way, it would have helped to mention that out of those four appearances the Flames advanced to the second round ONCE. You're splitting hairs, mannnn.
My thoughts on a "rebuild" in Calgary. Season ticket holders and sponsors were mentioned while bashing the Oilers. During their past three dismal seasons they've sold every home game out. It appears that sponsors and ticket holders aren't going anywhere and are in fact quite loyal. So what does that say about the Flames strategy when trying to move forward. Me thinks that ownership believes that the threat of rebuild would send fair-weather supporters looking for other entertainment options. Loyalty, it's a tough find...

NYI are on an Island, they are dealing with an unusual set of circumstances (Wang). With proper ownership and a GM that is allowed to spend, they'd be doing much better!! |

Potential will go out the window when he helps his team win. Personal accolades mean very little.
IMO the Oil don't need to make the playoffs but with absolutely no improvement in 3 years, that is as Colin described it- "the most unsuccessful, successful rebuild." |

Well Jones = Pronger with more mobility
NYI has poor goaltending, bad defence (good prospects though), and even worse depth than the Oilers.
NYI is an example of how to not retain value in trades, at least tambellini has let the team acquire talent by doing nothing, the time for action starts soon however. |

9th in the West isn't so I guess it depends on where the bar is set. Its why i asked what the Oils expectations were on Cloutiers post... |

That really remains to be seen... he might have that kind of potential, but Pronger was an absolute and dominant beast in this league. Jones hasn't even played a game yet, far too early to be comparing him to Pronger. |

Rebuilds take years (5) to come to fruition, it doesn't happen in a year or two. That's not realistic, even after Pittsburgh drafted Malkin and Crosby, who are generational type players, it took them four years to make a run at it.
Same goes for Mario, eight years after he was drafted they won. Takes time! |
