I'd say the favorable home schedule, Bourque no longer sucking, Plekanec playing like a couple of years ago and the return of a healthy Markov has as much to do with the hot start, as any system does.

Why even bother to have a coach?

Just let them do whatever they want out there.

Iginla or O'Reilly would fit much better with the team in my opinion...

Being an analyst on RDS.

edit : I always saw Therrien as a "get out of jail free" card for Bergevin. Seeing as there was no one available that fit the bill, he went with the lesser evil. If the team sucked, Bergevin could can Therrien, which would buy him some time before he had to press the panic button and start selling the farm for immediate help.

You don't think Iginla would fit well with the new identity of the team EE was talking about?

They haven't played well against the leafs in a long time, andif they do the games are usually boring.

Then throw in fans on both sides thinking that the greatest rivalry ever is between teams that haven't faced each other in the playoffs in their lifetimes.

Ya , I would say I couldn't care less when those two teams are playing

Iginla is old and getting slow. He would do better on a team hoping for the final piece in a run to the cup.

This is not Montreal...at least not this year.

He would've had to be a bad coach to suddenly become a good one.

for the first time in decades they have a few players that might generate some excitement and I just know they're gonna douche it up so much I end up just loathing the (frank) out of them.

I beleive now is not the time to go after (and overpay for) an aging ex-glory who seems to have lost his touch.

If anything, the Habs should consider selling a bit, if they can...

SYSTEMS....YES!!!!!

Hopefully Scotch Tape will be better able to explain this to me.

read the blog. Eric does it for you:

Prust outlined the aggression of the Canadiens' forecheck, which has the first forward in on an aggressive line with the second forward close by to follow up. In English, the idea is constant pressure and puck support.

Watch the Canadiens blueliners step up in the neutral zone when the failed forecheck returns to apply back-pressure.

In their own end, the Canadiens are overloading the puck-side. As a result, the puck remains on the outside if it's not in their control, and the back-pressure makes scoring on the rush very difficult for their opponents.

Considering we've been emarassed 3 times this year and 2 of those games were against the leafs, im excited to play them again. We're far from a rivalry..

2 blown leads say otherwise

Every team will abandon the system that got them there and sit back to try and hold a lead at some point during a game. The problem under JM was that the players were sitting back even when they were losing

- Oilhab

The 2 blown leads weren't a result of trying to sit back and hold the lead, it was mostly due to discipline and resulting momentum changes. Last year it was painfully obvious that every single time they had a lead in the third, they were going to try to trap and protect it. And mostly every single time, it was even more painfully obvious they were going to blow that lead as a result. That's not the case this year.

Buffalo was White making that stupid play and the momentum change resulting from it, Tampa was that stupid penalty at the end of the game by Pleky.

I like Iginla, but Bergevin wants to build through the draft. He won't trade prospects/picks for aging stars.

O'Reilly, being young, makes much more sense.
