IF the pens did get perry wouldnt they have to buyout martin or not resign letang? I know kennedy's 2mil is off the books after this season. I know martin has been playing really well but i would part with him after this season if it meant perry would be here and locked up long term. But i wouldnt part with tanger. - SayWhat...NoWay
Ultimately I know Perry won't come here. Some team will over-pay just like the Wild did for Parise and Suter. But, I still can't help but think how sick he would look on Sid's line. It wouldn't be fair most nights. |

Agreed on all accounts. Too much money to fly around (pardon the Ducks/Penguins pun) to think we will be players for him. |

Get ready for the Flyers to try and set a tone with Bennett for his career tonight. They really like getting rookies off their games, like Despres. Despres handled it pretty well, he also is a way more physical player. Bennett just doesnt seem like he is ready for games like this. We shall see. |

Gee, you're really going on a limb saying that about a guy who has played 2 career games...

They should just put bennett with geno/neal or sid/duper and kunitz bennett can play on either top 2 lines. Having bennett on the third line just screws up that third line i think. |

If Bennett can't fill the role, this is the only remaining option in the organization to play on a line with Malkin and Neal. |

It's incredible that a mythic head shot on a shoulder to shoulder check gets you five and a game, but an obvious blow to the head from behind in open ice is shrugged off as a 2 minute minor. It was a head shot. Intent is irrelevant. - akane13
Another big problem with how these types of plays are treated, is that if Hossa pops right back up, it's likely not even a minor, and no one even shows a replay, much less talks about it. |

Well, he does have a long, Staal-like reach so it might work out.... |

Ive watched the kid play almost every single WBS home game, he has awesome ability he just cant get to his game against overly physical teams. |

I suggested that he get an opportunity with Crosby and Kunitz over Malkin and Neal because of that. He has to get used to using his frame a bit more. At 6 foot 2 and 190-200 lbs he'll figure it out. I like his odds of getting quality chances with Crosby/Kunitz more than I do Malkin/Neal because Kunitz does the dirty work so well. He would have to do that for Malkin/Neal. |

He's definitely a strong north/south skater. Wouldn't play well in an east/west system. |

Good point. Another thing I like is that he always has his head up... sees the ice well (unless he's spun around). |

Matt Cullen would fit. Anywhere. He plays all positions and situations. |

That's why I have said for a while, injuries can't play a part in the decision making process. Punish the act itself, not the result. Only way to have consistency. |

Injuries should have no bearing on the play. Players get injured on clean checks too.
That being said, you cant like a guy swatting at someones head. |

No. Not at all. We should be finding out very soon what the punishment will be. Hansen's hearing is this afternoon. |

All headshots need to be eliminated, IMO.
Can't wait for game tonight either. Just bought tickets for family for Flyers game March 24th today! Lets go Pens!!!
Cooke, on Malkin's line is my vote. |

Mark Eaton released from his PTO this morning from WBS. I wonder if he is signing in the NHL soon? |

Once he got into game shape, he played well down here. I think he could challenge for a spot in the defensive logjam. |

Given Jim Rutherford's penchant for recycling players I wouldn't be surprised to see Matt Cullen end up back in Carolina. He would fit well as a 3rd line center who is good on the draw moving Jokinen to the wing. |
