2008 we already had 2 first rounders. one of them was ahead of the oilers. We already have 2 top 5 guys from that draft - RynoBull
No, we actually ended up with the Oilers first round pick that got us Tyler Myers. It went to Anaheim who got it for the Penner offer sheet. They traded it to LA Kings, and we acquired it from the Kings to move up a spot.
Edit: Ennis was taken from the Sharks trade with Campbell. I stand corrected.
We wouldve had THREE first round picks in 2008.
Edit 2: The two picks we ended up with were NOT top 5. Sorry.
I am sorry to be Negative . But I am actually starting to regret the day Terry Pegula bought the franchise . We all watched his initial introduction and had so much hope for the future of this franchise . I actually long for the days of that Horrible Mr. Quinn . He had no problem firing people even if it was a mistake .
Sorry for venting , That is just how I feel about things lately
Shepherds have the strongest bite (238lbs - 850lbs) and they much more beautiful to look at.
I have a Shepherd and nobody has ever dared mess with my children even playing with them when our Shepherd is out. People are terrified to come to my house, even family and I like it that way!

means nothing but still fun to watch - gerbe75pts
I just did some research on their stats and all...
Neither Barkov or Drouin even have a defensive side to them even mentioned on HockeyDB, EliteProspects, or HockeysFuture... which is a bit concerning to me... both are mentioned to be just average skaters without speed too.
I don't like it that both are 17 or 18 as well...
There makes me think that they might not be NHL ready right away.

I agree with that. Shepards are fierce. Very intelligent and its also very hard to gain their trust. Thats the weakness of the Pit Bull. Its sometimes very easy to gain their trust.

Terry is the best thing that happened to the Sabres in a good long while. From a organizational and community standpoint. We are only complaining about coaching now. Before we were complaining about not spending money and not getting players in here. Things that never coudl have happened before happen now. Do we overspend? sure. Good problem to have since not spending money is much worse, IMHO.

Iin the second round I think we should look at Ian McCoshen of the Waterloo Blackhawks (USHL)....
maybe I am biased because I coached him 2 years ago but I liked the kid.. he was very big and just bulky... he was very quiet and soft spoken though. He has become an absolute machine in the USHL though.

We ended up with 2 of the top 5 talent in that draft...if you consider Myers top 5. Cody, Tyler and Tyler isn't bad

I feel you. But lets face it, if you got to pick whatever owner you want, would you change it? Things will get better, once he gets his head out of his ass. Im betting if anything he has a set amount of time in his head Lindy will be here to see what he can do. He's probably just sticking to his guns. It will be better.

Agreed. I have patience for Pegula. I have no patience for R and R any longer. Pegula will figure it out, it's obvious R and r will not. Pegula just has to figure that out on his own

I don't 100% agree with this, it is good to spend money and overspend, but not on the wrong players either skill wise or personality wise, Sabres have over spent on the wrong players.
For example, I would have been happier with NO Leino/Ehrhoff (he is ok)/Regher and put ALL that money together and had gone after someone like Parise, because a player like that brings so much more than just hockey, it is attitude/perspective.
Good to have money to spend but not if you piss it up against the wall. But at the moment I don't think it is the players, it is this "System" which we are all trying to work out what it is. Unless it is the "Suck for a high draft pick" system, in which case I am on board with it.

In defense of pegulas over spending, you don't know your wasting it until after the fact.
