The players and presidents thing was absolutely moronic, plz mispronounce names at will but cut that poop out.
- JoeRussomanno

Yeah, when they snagged up the guy who played 17 games in 1934 I thought, "Why are they doing this?" Then they showed a picture of Mike Johnson in uniform and I was like, "oh, he played?"

Are you saying you disagree? I love Couturier, and I think he's going to be a very good player. But Couturier straight up for Pietrangelo is a no brainer.

I can't go with you on that one. If I had to choose between Carter and Voracek. Carter all the way.
- MJL

Personally I appreciate Voracek's consistent play. Since he has gotten back into game shape he has been solidly good. Whatever line he is on seems to be productive. Carter was way too streaky offensively and he would go ling stretches where he forgot how to play at his most effective...that is, he'd shy away from the gritty areas on the ice. When he wanted to be the guy it was a pleasure watching him play, but far too often I found myself thinking he could do more. I'm not saying I'd take Jake over Carter, but I think that the Flyers did quite alright in that trade with the way Jake has played and with the way Couturier has played since being drafted.

Really? Solely based on the player or are you taking the team into account? Obviously Jake fits better with the team right now based on position.
- NickTheKid87

No question. Carter can play Center or Wing. Carter with Giroux would be lights out. 40 goal scorer.

Actually Jeremy Welsh had a $17.945 million cap hit last year.

Yea, I saw that before.

How much more than $8 million/year are you going to pay him? Even after a hypothetical monster season at age 29?
- bradleyc4

Depends what the cap will be, also, after that monster year at age 29, he might want 8 years for security, which takes him to 37

Carter never really seemed to be comfortable at the wing though. It would be great if he could be more consistent there but he always seemed more effective up the middle.

I'd hate to see Couturier go, but if he did it damn well better be for a guy like Pietrangelo. If that deal goes down and you can get Coooter to Kentucky, I can save you some time and take him the rest of the way to St. Louis.

But what that doesn't mean is that the player isn't worth his contract or salary past that so called peak age. That's where the mistake is being made.
- MJL

Exactly my point.

Well, G is 25, odds are he will never have a better season than last year.

Imagine trying to negotiate that bit into his contract.

That's my belief. I think giving him 8 from the get-go would cost you less money total than starting short.

No need to be so verbose. You could've just stopped at the bolded parts and you'd be spot on.

In the month of Feb. we have two players who are scoring above a ppg... Voracek (2 goals 10 assists in 10 games) and Schenn (4 goals 7 assists 10 games).

Carter was no more streaky then any other goal scorer. Way overblown. I have no issues with the trade considering they got Couturier. He has a chance to be a better player then Carter by himself

can we keep our own 1st round pick for more than 5 minutes, without dumping him trying to fill a need elsewhere, for (frank)'s sake?

he's a 20 year old kid with tremendous potential, who has already done an admirable job at the nhl level. he was a gift selection at #8.

I don't know how many times I see his name as a throw in on a deal on here.

"Yeah, well maybe throw in Read or a second rounder."
