Exactly my point.

Well, G is 25, odds are he will never have a better season than last year.

Imagine trying to negotiate that bit into his contract.

"Well Claude.. statistically you are already entering a decline in your career.. so hows 6 mill per year. "

I've already stated that logic and reality in contract negotiations usually don't go hand-in-hand. Nature of the beast.

Carter was no more streaky then any other goal scorer. Way overblown. I have no issues with the trade considering they got Couturier. He has a chance to be a better player then Carter by himself
- MJL

Carter is very streaky in his overall game. No just goal scoring.

I'd be shocked if he never had another 90+ point season tbh

I would disagree. But Carter is in LA, and I'd rather discuss the players on the Flyers.

I don't think it's really faith, because there are plenty of reasons to believe that he'd build from last year. I think it's completely reasonable if not probable.

I will answer in true MJL fashion and say: I agree. Hopefully that turns out to be the case.

I agree. Even if he peaks at 26 or 27 with 95+ points, putting up 85+ on average until he's 34 is well worth it.

It's not even like we flipped a left winger for a right winger either.

Edit: never mind I have Briere on the wing and you have Schenn there.

- NickTheKid87

I think this means you need to get a Jeff Bridges avatar from something other than Tron or The Big Lebowski. I pick "How to Lose Friends & Alienate People."

There's obviously a lot of value in Giroux scoring 70 points/year beyond age 30. But it's also a gamble to invest so heavily in an aging product.

It's a hypothetical potential trade involving the Flyers and Couturier.

I noticed that you a Jsaq both had Jeff Bridges as Avatars and was gonna comment on that.

I don't see it as a gamble. What I see as the gamble is signing him to a shorter deal then losing him to Free Agency in 5 years.

Defensively he was usually very solid, I thought, but he was getting his paycheck, in part, to be lighting the lamp. I just don't think he consistently lived up to his talent in that area. Anyway, he is LA's problem now so I'll probably stop sniping at him after the Flyers win a cup (I obviously have never been able to forgive his playoff...uh...misfortunes sounds better than chokes right? Let's go with misfortunes )

This is only Giroux's 4th full season in the league. Players of his caliber usually have at least 7-8 GREAT years and than 3-5 good years. I wouldn't consider investing $8 million+ a year for 8 years on a 26 year old stud a bad investment on any level. It's improbable that he'd end up failing & turning that deal sour.

I watched Tron the other night and went shopping for Tron: Legacy on DVD when I realized the time I'd watched it with my wife was On Demand. I wanted to watch it last night, since the first was fresh on my mind.

Then I decided to Flynn my avatar and got a really cool Tron quote that I felt "caught the spirit of the thing" that was all the nonsense trade talk yesterday.

i'd sit any member of yesterday's fourth line and knuble in favor of mcginn.
- OrangeBlack27

Agreed. From what I see, McGinn brings most (if not all) of the best parts of Rinaldo's game, with none of the idiotic, brain-dead stuff that Rinaldo always seems to bring. He's fast, he hits, he can fight, he can score, and he doesn't seem to be a total idiot. Seems like he could play almost anywhere in the lineup and be effective.

I don't think Rinaldo is ever going to escape his bad rep, nor his own stupidity. So he seems destined to offset the good plays he makes with bonehead penalties or reputation calls. He'd be my first choice for a scratch to make room for McGinn.

How is it not being used properly?

Do you mean Giroux is an exception to this rule?

Just curious. Would you still make that trade if flyers had to add a little to pull it off and if so what's the most you would add?

I didn't really like Tron: Legacy all that much although Olivia Wilde is a babe. Never say the original.
