Not worth the effort. Watched the hit again on the ESPN website. Melorse called it a forearm shiver and expects disciplinary action from the league. Forearm shiver's hardly what I'd call a hockey play but I'm sure there are a lot of spin and redemption posts on Ian's blog this morning.

Hope Hoss is ok.

Pretty at times, ugly in the third but in the end, Hawks win!!!

Hanson gets a hearing at 3:30. my guess is 2 or 3 games.

Watch many games and get puck possession hawks game. Unfortunately some fans know this style has failed in the playoffs. All I'm saying several guys need to maKe contact with opposing players .... Don't need to go head hunting just be able to knock a player off the puck.
- roenick

I don't know what the hell counts as a hit or not....typically generous scoring by the home official scorer but that rarely helps the Hawks they are always out hit.

Listen they were track blow the nucks out of the building...schnieder kept them in that gme and then hwks went passive and tried to out last them and once again gave up 2 blasts from the top of the circles to make it interesting. This has been their trend at home other than the shark gme. Out scored 8-2 in the third @ home with leads in all those gmes.

How about Kesler's blatant dive there when him and Toews were tied up? That guy is an absolute disgrace to the sport, along with a slew of other Canucks players. Douchebaggery at its finest

I hope the Shanaban...shoves it down AV's and Hansens throat..he was decisive in his public comments that it was not a penalty and no suspension is warranted. Q kept it his comments much more reserved

I think he studied at the Mike Smith School of Acting. I hear there was a special rate for Nucks players.

Meh. I still don't think it was that bad. Penalty? Absolutely. But not totally egregious. Typical borderline dirty play between two teams that really dislike each other. I forget which Canuck D-bag it was, but the shot behind the play on Bolland in his first game back from concussion in the playoffs seemed much worse to me, and that one got squat in terms of supplemental discipline...didn't even get a penalty.

And the league is a bunch of dumb@$$es for not calling just the dive. This whole thing of offsetting penalties won't stop the issue.

Hamhuis, who himself had just missed significant time because of a concussion.

I know we see this one differently. I have made my argument. If this type of hit occurs in after whistle scrums = its a cheap head shot in that situation to.

I am non to pleased to see #81 prostrate face down on the ice again. I hope he does not miss any gmes but i fear today's report will be less encouraging.

But if it costs Hossa for a few games, would that change your mind? I mean everyone in the league knows what happened to Hoss last year. You have to know, as a player, that getting anywhere near Hossa's head will cause people to take a second look.

An intelligent player would know this, IMO.

If you want to stop it, call a double minor for diving.

Interesting that these "hockey hits" and "just playing the puck" type hits only happen against guys like Bolland, Hossa and Toews against this team, huh? Never see these types of "hockey hits" against Bolig, Kruger, Brookbank-type players.

Spot on. That's why people think they are intentional. Well said.

Of course they are intentional! Their head coach was a goon/hack who perpetuates this type of play. That's why you throw the book at these type of hits. It won't happen....

Also let me mention: the only reason the sister was hurt was a retaliation against a dirty hit on the board against Keith (shocking it was him, huh?)

No. I don't think injury should have any bearing on punishment. I think, if anything, you punish the act, not the result.

The act: a blatant forearm/elbow to the head of a defenseless player who had his back turned.

The Canucks and their fans always show their true colors. I think expecting anything more/less from Vancouver and their fans is naive. They are not team or fan base that has shown a lot of class over the years and that continues to be that way.

I am glad Hawks fans didn't take the ridiculous notion of 'booing' Hansen every time he touched the puck like a bunch of tools. They will point to the Keith as justification for anything and everything they do, meanwhile forgetting the hits that concussed Seabs and Toews or the hair-pulling incident... their actions are always justifiable 'hockey plays'. Hard not to get worked up about it but the best way to deal with it is continue beating them, hope the league get it right with discipline, and hammer them every change you get between the whistles. Stay classy, stay above the fray.

They don't always have the puck. It is all the times they fly by the D without finishing their checks that get me. They could do that A LOT more. Make the D pay a price and wear them down. You add that to already wearing them down with the speed and u really have something

I think the most gratifying thing from last night is that regardless of the outcome, the Canucks are not in the Hawks' league anymore. They used to be able to keep up with the Hawks but the Hawks were skating circles around them. I'm starting to think the only teams with a puncher's chance of beating the Hawks in the West come playoff time are the Kings (if they even make it) and the Blues. Also for both those teams to do it, they'll have to play a near perfect series.
