Why not give Calgary a 1st this year for Bouwmeester? Isn't it gonna be the 30th pick? |

Oilers will be good enough to avoid being the bottom 5 this year for sure. |

So question, what are the Oilers defining as success this year? is it in the playoffs? - geta02it
I think in my mind the Oilers have already succeeded this year. They have proven to the fans that they weren't crazy and that they DO have a starting goalie somewhere in Dubnyk. They showed us that Schultz can be a one man D on the PP and live up to the hype he had preseason which means the future is amazing for this kid. The first line showed us that they have a winning attitude, amazing skills and they are at any time going to burn out goal light bulbs everywhere. Gagner showed us that you don't need talent or size to win, you just heart and time to develop into a team leading point getter. Hemsky showed us he is on his way back to his pre-injury days and that was more than we could have hoped for.
They have let in stupid goals and come back from crazy leads. They have peppered goalies with shots and scored two goals in a minute thirty to tie a game after a ref wrongly called one back. This team is inconsistent and it is not complete but it has drive in a lot of its players. Now we just need to shed the dead weight, add 3 key players and this team is ready.
This team has exceeded expectations because no one knows what they are going to see next game. At any time they could beat the best team or lose to the worst. They have those pieces to be dominant against the top teams and to go deep in the playoffs but knowing that is enough for this year. Next year I would hope for a strong round one showing if not a second round but this year is so messed up with the half season that even winning the cup wouldn't feel like a real cup win. |

Good post. I wonder if Columbus makes moves using the abundance of picks and tries to grab mackinnon and drouin? Are two top 3 picks worth sacrificing a few more picks if your Columbus? - cmpdave
Yes, I would sacrifice the 3rd first rounder and pieces for the chance to grab both of the Mooseheads. |

If your point is that I'm comfortable enough with my sexuality to call a guy named Karl "Hot", then yes point proven. |

Depending how late Oiler's are drafting, I would look at Bo Horvat. Real solid center with the Knights who can do it all. Though he isnt listed huge he seems to play bigger and once he starts throwing his weight around even more he will be a stud. - pbrsimps
Yea Bo Horvat and Adam Erne are exactly what EDM needs. Great physical game and two way game. Guy who'll do the dirty work in the corners and still score. |

I guess Cloutier is a little bitter about being fired by the Hockey Writers after only one Blog as the new Flames Blogger.
Lesson learned D!ck, not all websites hire Trolls as their bloggers, just Ek and his desperate quest for hits.
Hollingdrake obviously has a lot more integrity, honestly surprised he would even hire you to begin with.

Actually I quit. I wrote a blog that was critical of Flames management and was told to be more positive because they didn't want the flames management to be mad at the site. I refused and quit immediately because I refuse to compromise my opinions on matters just to make people happy.
Get your facts straight, jackass, before you post something like this. |

I wouldn't. Depending on where the picks are, this draft is deep. Look down the list of the top 60. I like Jones, after that it becomes a question as to whether you are good because of your own talent or the line you are on. There are some solid picks all down the board and people willing to trade down because of this. It would be a good time for Columbus to shed dead weight to move up but I don't think they need to do it with this years picks. In fact I would trade next years first round before any of this years. |
