Just to add to this: my ideal system would be 4-on-4 for 5 minutes, then 3-on-3 for 5 minutes, then end the game in a tie if nobody scores.
One point each for a tie. No points for OT losses.

It could work I guess but I never had an issue with the pre-lockout (03-04) tie rules.

The league has always handed out a point when the 60 minutes ends in a tie. Nothing has changed, the NHL still rewards ties after regulation. |
