I've never actually stayed at Wasaga.

We either do Collingwood or Balm Beach.

Catch 22 was in Collingwood for years - near the glass factory. My in-laws bought a retirement home a couple years ago in a small subdivision on the water right across the the glass factory. Great town. They looked for a retirement town on the water for over two years - all over Ontario and settled on this place. They love it up there.

20 years ago, you couldn't rent anything.

Today? You can get whatever you want, with a side of cheezy garlic bread.

Everyone is trying to pay for their taxes through rentals.

And that goes double for the US.

Ever been on www.vrbo.com or www.homeaway.com?

Great way to kill an afternoon - just check out what you can rent in various placed in the US. Hint: try the Orlando area. You can get mansions (8 bedrooms or more) for $200 a day or less.

A few years ago (in the depth of the US recession) I rented a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom place in Pacific Beach in San Diego. It was right on the boardwalk - my front door, boardwalk, sand, Pacific Ocean. $175 a night.

- Atomic Wedgie

We use VRBO for our business trips here at work. We can take the entire sales team with us and stay in beautiful homes for the price of a decent hotel room. A little more organizing, but well worth it.

My inlaws used to have a townhouse in Cranberry.

There used to be a little bar/restaurant in the plaza across the street from the Highwayman - it's now a giant movie theatre and Canadian Tire and 12 crappy restaurants, etc.

Anyhoo, the little bar/restaurant used to have a section that they did up like a hockey rink - boards, glass, dasher boards, etc.

Wasn't really a great bar, but it was fun to go in there and have a pop and sit in the hockey rink section.

trying to remember where the highwayman is.....is it on the corner where you turn right to head towards cranberry/craigleith?..if you go straight instead of right you go to blue mountain pottery and blue mountain ski hills and slide ride and scenic caves?

You need to travel more, and experience the entire country. It does not all revolve arounf Toronto. You guys are certainly touchy about people not wanting to live their.

Everybody has the right to their opinion, even outside of hockey.. you sound like UG, trying to change their minds. About food and where to live.. really.

Across the street from the M&M meat shop - corner of Balsam and 1st.

Oh poop - now I'm worried I've got it mixed up - but pretty sure it was the Highwayman (years ago).

Yes, exactly.

If you go a tiny bit further towards Craigleith, there's the furniture factory (nice smokestack) on the right, and the Cranberry driving range on the left (it's now gone).
