OK, I know the entire movie was ridiculous, so I'm being grumpy for pointing this out, but....

They jack up the car, put it in reverse, put a brick on the accelerator, and then go sit in the hot tub for an hour.

And then they come back and see that it isn't reversing the odometer.

Wouldn't they be able to see that as soon as they put the brick on the accelerator?
