You need to travel more, and experience the entire country. It does not all revolve arounf Toronto. You guys are certainly touchy about people not wanting to live their.

Everybody has the right to their opinion, even outside of hockey.. you sound like UG, trying to change their minds. About food and where to live.. really.

- bixll

Why assume I haven't though?

I dont care if they dont want to live here, just stop telling us how poop it is. You sound like UG argueing for the sake of argueing, but have no vested interest in the actual topic.

Don't pull the race card on me asswipe. People hate Toronto cuz it breeds ignorant people. I wouldn't live in any big city if i had the choice, they all have their fair share of crackheads and ambulance sirens going all night. Leave me be at my little house down a country road.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

And that's your choice. But maybe it isn't appropriate to be comparing the Ottawa valley with Toronto then. Maybe you should be comparing the Ottawa valley with Huntsville or Cambridge. i.e. a place not in they city, but within driving distance. Similar to Ottawa Valley, but not Ottawa.

Unless you find a lot of interest in touring government buildings, it seemed kind of slow. And if you find interest in that kind of thing, I'd say I found Halifax a lovely place to visit. Some of the tours of the old places, like the Citidel, and going by the naval base, and even around the inlet, where you find all kinds of old cannons from wars of years past, were quite nice.

I find it odd that someone saying that they didn't like Toronto, but preferred Ottawa, would cite "always something to do in Ottawa", as a reason. I found it quite dry.

Personally, I think my favourite might be Calgary. What a beautiful city it is. And a lively city for sure. And with the mountains so close, it truly is an incredible place.

I loved Calgary too. I would live there for sure. Kelowna is another one of my favourites. But we should really travel more and blah blah blah.

Its a drinking problem, just on the Hill..
- bixll

No, I'm being serious. I believe I remember reading that the crime rates are actually higher in Ottawa, and particularly, they have quite a few drug problems.

Also, the area with the bars and restaurants down by the water in Halifax was incredible.

There are a plethora of places worthy of praise in our fine and vast Country. No reason we should be hating anywhere just because our tastes and choices differ. We're all in the same boat. Love where you are, leave the rest to their own preferences.

Awe FFS... Don't start with this poop now. I grew up there and it's not that special. Just a place to rich people from Toronto to go to to ruin the peace and quite of the people who live there year round. Nice country in some places but if you people would travel a little more you'd realize much of Ontario and Quebec look the same.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

I assure you, I've been all around these provinces. I get the sense there is some resentment in you. Grew up there, but couldn't afford a nice place on the water, or something like that. You seem to be pretty aggressive and dismissive about it. You may think differently, but lovely little places like Port Carling and Bracebridge are much better than anything I've seen yet in the Ottawa region, and through Quebec. That the places are more expensive, I find, actually make them less busy than other cottage areas.

Yeah AB is beautiful, aka Jasper, banff, the Rockies, Calgary, not Edmonton though or the endless winter and raised pick up trucks with hanging steel balls that everyone drive.

I have family and friends in AB, I'd move there but I will stand out like costumeless guy at Comicon. I love the diversity in TO and I only feel Canadian in this City.

Im two hours from Calgary and i don't like it at all.. But thats just my opinion. Im not a city guy but i do travel to them often and have lived in a lot of Canadian cities for short periods. I guess i just have a different perspective on what our Canadian culture is. I've been to every Province, Territory, and city west of Quebec city. Ive been chewed alive by black flies (nearly every may) more times than i can count. I've paddled countless canoe routes in Ontario and fished hundreds of backland lakes. I howl at the wolves (and believe me it will send a shiver up your spine when your all alone in the boreal forest. I grew up playing hockey on the frozen ponds, lakes, rivers, driveways in -45 temp. I've hiked all of Banff and Jasper and i know every Gordon Lightfoot, Stompin' Tom, Tragiacally Hip, Neil Young song there is to know. IM SORRY IF I DON'T GIVE A (frank) ABOUT WHAT TORONTO SUPPOSEDLY HAS TO OFFER.

I'm very at home in Toronto as well. I find it comical when people refer to crime and shootings. Maybe if you're walking around Moss Park or Regent Park at 3am. Otherwise, I feel totally safe.

I went on a trip out to Kananaskis when I was in Calgary. Absolutely incredible. It truly is beautiful.

Just a note on Gardiner if he is called up, after three more games he has to clear waivers to be sent back down, so if he is called up, it will probably be for good.
- LeafMan

That sounds about right. I don't think the Leafs would send him down again anyway. They either play him or trade him somewhere.

I played hockey and had a cottage in Port Carling. We've had cottages in Walkers point, lake rosseau, and beaumaris. Money was never an issue. Muskoka is insanely busy in the summer.
