well not #1 but he would be top ten probably - IndianaSabresFan
oh definitely, i agree with that, no doubt. |

that is true you guys have not been winning by much.. but if it works it works, the games are just boring - IndianaSabresFan
actually, before spezza went down, sens were scoring a buttload, but now that our 3 best offensive players are out (spezza, karlsson, michalek), goals are gonna be tough to come by. |

little overly optimistic. everything being equal (teams, systems, etc) i think there are a few goalies who are as good or better than miller. (lundqvist, rinne, price, quick, luongo, etc) - sensarmy_11
I don't think any of those goalies would be top 10 statistically here in Buffalo. That's how crappy are Team Defense is this year. |

But it is also the job of the coach and GM to take what you have and figure out how to ice the best team.. the system being used by the coach doesn't fair well with the type of goalie we have. |

agreed but a few of them could do better than Miller has been though.. but that being said.. Miller is not the problem this season it is the team defense (as you stated) |

spezza has been out for quite some time now, think he only played the first 6 games or so. since then, our offense has been stagnant (that includes both games against the sabres) |

i dont' think the system being used by the coach fairs well with ANYBODY you have, except maybe your top line. think their success is more a product a talent then system though.
i think miller needs to keep his mouth shut, but i don't think he's the problem with your team. obviosuly it's been said a million times in these boards already, but ruff should have been fired EONS ago. i think he's about 90% of the problem in buffalo. |

I just hope being buddies with Charlie Sheen doesn't go to Miller's head.
Emilio must be the brother with the hockey knowledge because calling out your teammates in the media is a big no no, but having America's favourite douche bag do it over twitter is a whole nother level of stupidity.

you guys have the pieces though. on paper your team looks good. you just don't have a coach who can figure out how to use those pieces effectively. IMO. |

Wasn't long ago that the Sabres had a vocal goalie who was traded away and won a Cup. I credit Ryan for saying what every Sabres fan is thinking. I would lose respect for him if he back peddles. Maybe this reaction is what management needs to hear to force them to do something, wether they move Ryan or make some other changes. |

But really who cares???? That win would just be one step closer to 9th place.
This is the first season I have ever in 20+ years wanted the Sabres to suck. I hate the coach, GM, and half the team. They play with no heart and they are boring as all hell to watch.
Only players I would miss are Vanek, JP, Ennis, Myers "yup i said it", Ehrhoff, Ott, Foligno, Hodgson. The rest could be put on waivers for all I care. I'm sick of seeing the same old mediocre team on the ice and I'm sick of wasting a couple hundred a year on this team when they just give us crap in return.
Pegula its been two years now... I really hope you stop being a super fan and start being an owner. - Smittyx36
I think the emboldened part above is pretty key. It's the same with the Bills. They're NOT a fun team to watch anymore. I don't like the GM, the coach is frustrating the hell out of me and there are more players that I don't give a damn about than I like.
What fun is it being the fan of a team that is the laughing stock of the league ? I mean, if the proverbial spending chains have been taken off and your expectations are REALLY high and then they just continue to get worse who's fault is it???
It's a true statement when someone mentioned it last week on here - GM's and other teams upper brass are laughing at Buffalo and Terry Pegula. |

And this is fact?
Please stop!
No goalie in this league can put up good numbers with this defense in front of him.
If you think there are, you must be smoking the very best stuff around Buffalo.
Again. This is not Millers fault. If you think it is you need to watch more hockey. - TerryPegs
OK, I am smoking the best stuff in Buffalo but I agree that even Patty Roy would have trouble in this crease.
The question I often ponder while I'm towing cars and crushing old dishwashers is this. If this team traded Miller for a couple of top players like a #1.5 Center and a puck moving D-man would they be better off? They would also need to get a better option then Enroth, he is not even NHL talent. |

Yes, and I'm sick of Pominvilles monotone "We gotta be better", We gotta protect the Puck, etc". He's been making a lot of those mistakes himself lately. Miller told it like it is. |

Fun is what its all about. And we aren't having it when watching this team. By the end of most games I'm frustrated and I have already called out several players for being useless lol.
For me nothing was greater "as a sabres fan" as watching the first two years after the lockout. Expectations weren't very high and the team played fantastic! We had likable guys, good leaders, and a high scoring team which I personally love.

We would have to replace Miller with at least a NHL caliber goalie . Your right enroth is trash.
But I think we would be better off in the long run. Why? Opens a lot of cap space and it will give us that center and dman your talking about. Obviously this doesn't mean much if we cant get those players and if Ruff is still behind the bench |

Trading Ryan now would give the appearance that management is thin skinned, it may send wrong message around the league. Trading someone like Pommenville or Ennis would be a stronger message of no one is safe. Besides they carry more trade value. I'm not saying we should but it would send a loud message!

I agree. I'm one of his biggest critics because of his contract but he's not the problem this year. I'm GLAD he has spoken up.
The one thing Ryan Miller can stick in his cap is that he LOVES to compete. He plays well when he's on the grand stage (Olympics) and is getting the attention.
Tighten the D up and find some secondary scoring and the team is at least respectable. The guys on the team now are young and have no leadership, no accountability.
Hate to beat the dead horse and it ain't happenenin' anyway but Ryan O'Reilly would add a lot to this team (shut down 2 way Center, born leader (or so I've read on multiple sites) AND we would probably move one of our D men to get him which certainly wouldn't hurt..

not speaking on pomminville's play, but as for his comments....i think that's EXACTLY what he should be saying to the media. i doubt that's what he says inside the lockerroom, where it actually matters.
not saying miller's teammates didn't deserve to be called out, but use your head, and do it right. you talk to them privately, you don't throw them under the bus on national television.
how do you think miller would react if he had a couple of bad games, and his team started throwing him under the bus.
at the beginning of the season, when his play was pretty bad, i didn't hear a single teammate of his jump in front of the camera and say that miller sucked
