My generation was not and is not lazy like the tech generation. Sad part is, most seem proud of it. Almost boastful.
I started work in the family store when I was 9 years old and was paid with packs of sports cards and I have not stopped working since.
There was one thing among many that I prided myself on. The very one thing very important to me is knowing that nobody could ever say I did not earn that paycheck at the end of the week.
Some have pride, some dont.

at this point im not even sure you understand what the word lazy means.

i will say working in management i see more of an entitlement type of attitude in the younger folks. They come in (unproven) expecting to make big bucks.. the older and mid aged folks tend to come in and try to prove themselves first before asking for a raise.

I try to tell that to people I know in college and they call me a downer. Tell me to stop trying to crush them. I prepared myself for when I got out of college. Most people will hold out waiting for that one job of their dreams instead of taking a job they can hold for a couple years while still looking for that "dream job."

The definition of "hard work" has changed with technology. Myself working with phones and computers is hard work mentally, some think what people do at desks or cubicles is easy.

I did not mean to say all, my bad.
As a matter of fact there was a young man working at a bowling alley I went to recently for a birthday party.
I made it a point to go up to management and let them know what a hard worker this young man was and to also let him know personaly before I left.
I turned to my wife and I said I would hire this kid in a heartbeat.
The young man never stopped working the entire time I was there and I admired him for it because I dont see it enough with the younger generation.

You dont know how many times I have heard. "You sit at a desk all day, how can you be tired?" I just laugh at them. Working with numbers is a pain in the arse. (but I secretly love it)

I honestly think this world has gotten too soft, I got cracked on the ass as a kid if i did anythign dumb/embarassing. Can't do that anymroe without CPS being involved. I was the same as you. Worked two jobs starting at 16 went to college full time, up until 3 years ago when I got the job I currently have.

Now if I would have been as financial savey then as I am now. . . thats a whole different story. Damn Ice House, Keystone and BV whiskey.
