Excellent take!
The man wants to win!
And some want to bash him for wanting to win it seems.
Not that any of us know for sure but I am sure inside that locker room he has been trying to hold players accountable. His frustration is clearly brimming and I for one find it refreshing to see a player that wants to win as badly as he does!!!!
And for those that say he should keep that in the locker room , I would bet Miller has and this has gotten to the point of frustration where names might be next during his interviews which I would applaud him for.
He is 32 years old. Miller sees time slipping away....

It's a good learning experience for him. Nicklas Backstrom spent his first year in Washington on the 4th line.

The captain shouldn't be the only guy holding people accountable, and I know you're smart enough to know that.

How is Pommer supposed to go into the locker room yesterday and say anything to anyone after the game he had? He can't. He can say, "I need to be better" but that's about it.

It would have been totally hypocritical of him to go in there and point fingers at everyone else knowing he had a poopty game himself. That's where the other leaders need to know to step in and say something, and IMO, Miller has always been one of the leaders here and he did just that.

I guess the proof will be how the players respond to his next start

So, I was doing a little research to compare Briere to Ennis, and technically, Ennis is ahead of the curve compared to where Briere was at the same age.

Briere spent most the season when he was 22 in the AHL. Ennis spent it on an NHL team and posted .71 ppg. Briere didn't make it to the NHL full time until he was 24. Ennis will have had 2 full years under his belt by then.

It's still really uncanny to me that they have the same birthday though. And were only drafted two spots apart in their respective draft years (Briere 1st round 24th pick, Ennis 1st round 26th pick).

They're also not much different in size either.

- HonkFortheGoose

Yea, Ennis is very under rated IMO

Draft lottery changes this year

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
There will be no changes to NHL draft lottery odds, for this year anyway. Only difference is team that wins lottery gets No. 1 overall pick.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
In the past, lottery winner could move up only four slots. There was thought to changing odds - may happen in future but won't be this year.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Only non-playoff teams have shot at winning lottery and getting 1st overall pick. Odds of winning as follows: 30th place, 25 per cent...

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
29th,18.8; 28th, 14.2; 27th, 10.7; 26th, 8.1; 25th, 6.2; 24th, 4.7; 23rd, 3.6; 22nd, 2.7; 21st, 2.1; 20th, 1.5; 19th,1.1, 18th, .8; 17th, .5

I don't know that I would say underrated, but he's "ahead of schedule" if you take a look at how Briere's career progressed.

I've always said that Ennis is very much like Briere. I see a lot of him in Ennis. I think Ennis has the ability to be a game changer. He has that "it" factor. He's just a lot younger right now than Briere was when we got to see that on display consistently from him.

Ennis just needs more time. In the meantime, he's not exactly a slouch either.

He's currently at a .81 ppg average. That's higher than last year. Over 48 games, that puts him at 39 pts.

I think he is very under rated. He's on pace to have a 70 pt season in an 82 game schedule and people are unhappy with his play. If my 2nd line center can put up 25 goals and 40 assists, I'm happy at that position

His exact pace right now put him at 66-67 points. And I agree. I think that's a good position to be in as a team. Especially when he's still hitting his stride and will probably continue to improve for a few more years before he plateaus.

If the sabres won the cup in 6 games, some people would female dog that they did not win it in 4 or 5 games

With such a good draft crop coming out its hard for me to not want the Sabres to sell. Vaneks value will never be higher than it is right now...

There's a few of us that have already said that as well.

Why stop at Vanek? I'd see if anyone wanted Miller as well. I'd go as far as to say see what you can get for Pommer, but I feel like the return wouldn't be as much as we'd like since he's pretty underrated around the league.

I think two things are making Ennis a bit of a public enemy right now. The first is that last year, he ended the season on a pretty much unsustainable pace, and everyone expected him to match it for 48 more games.

The second is his comment about faceoffs that was blown way out of proportion. It made him sound like he didn't care, which wasn't what he was saying at all. Some faceoffs you just know you aren't going to win, so you need to adjust for the fact that you probably won't win it. It just set off everyone's blue collar alarm and turned out to be much ado about nothing.

Backstrom must've been pretty good to get 55 assists on the fourth line.

Ive been on the see what you can get for Vanek, Pommer and Miller for a while now. Not that they are bad players, but as a team you should either be contending or rebuilding. Meddling in the middle of the pack isnt helping anything. Obviously you dont give them away for scraps but if you can get a player, top prospect and first rounder this year then I would definitely consider it. Especially this year where they are predicting there wont be as many seller, which means more demand for the teams that do sell.

I'm right with you. Darcy should realize we are not good enough. He's an asset that can be used to properly build a winning team. We have a bunch of young guys that can make an impact in poissibly 2-3 years.

I'm sure that's a big part of it. The faceoff thing team wide has gotten better though. Who really would have thought that they'd finish at 50% against the Pens?

It's a work in progress. The whole team is. There's a lot of "new" faces on the team. There's bound to be some growing pains.

I still think they need a new face behind the bench though.
