Recap, please.

(Our avatars look related - and awesome, man)

Good win, lotta of really short sighted trade ideas and Bryz bashing, I drove from the Poconos to Cape May, we sacrificed a cat to Satan and Ren Lavoie reports that the Flyers want Ryan O'Reilly and the Avs countered with Couturier

you can't just buyout people and not have a contingency and an unproven prospect is not a contingency.
- JoeRussomanno

Stolarz is a prospect. I'm not talking about a prospect I'm talkin about a NHL ready NHL experienced goalie a goalie that may take a year or maybe 2 to start to fully come into his own like a lindback enroth bernier bishop etc.. I agRee do not buy out bryz and go with complete unknown ala bobrosky. Theres a big difference. Wouldn't even cost a cooter probally like a read and a 2nd. If it didn't work out when core matures at keast we have the cap space to get proven goalie. If I'm trading coots and as is the census in here that he's possible #1 center potential then should be able to swap for winger or dman. Even if we have to sweeten the pot we can do it cause were so deep at center. Did I explain a little better my thoughts.

I think your idea defeats the purpose. WHy not groom a replacement while riding out Bryzgalov's contract?

Nobody's saying that they can do it without a trade or buyout. What most of us are saying is the trades you propose are short sighted and not good.
- Jsaquella

I never said specific trade. Just players "like" never intended a coots for bernier or anything like that. Was just saying homer mashing he's not trading core players is dumb. Was just throwing out possible senarios in general. And no way am I trading cooter for another center oreilly. Cooter better bring a dman or winger

Bernier, Enroth, Bishop...guys like those are unproven. They've never done anything. Yet you have no issue moving assets for them. That ignores the real needs of the team.

You did specifically mention Couturier for Bernier at one point. You also mentioned him for Yandle. Neither is a deal I'd want to make.

There's plenty of possibilities to kick around, but moving for a young, unproven guy and dumping Bryzgalov makes little sense. In fact, the sole reason buying out Bryz makes much sense is if you're worried about him retiring before his deal is finished.

My wife and I were watching DVD's when she got tired. I said I wanted to see if Tron: Legacy was still free on demand. She told me to look online and here I am. I've got it and electronic piece I need in my cart, but I need to add $2+ to my order to get free shipping on the electronic part.

So, I'm browsing there and fiddling here. You know, the usual.

I'm drinking the Koolade.

Buyout Bryz before FA.

Without a Goalie go into FA and demand fair value.

I can't see moving Couturier - a guy who fell into the Flyers' laps because of mono and instantly became a go-to defensive player for the Flyers last season. Shutdown centers are about as rare as #1 dmen - and can stymie just as many chances on the PK and at even-strength.

It's just like Eaglesitis has overtaken the Flyers' fanbase (woe is us!) with the losing record that we're willing to undo the good of the last few years (meaning, drafts and young acquisitions such as Matt Read) because of 1 bad season that may turn out better than it's started.
