I'm trying to be open minded. Take in others views that are different.

you are forgetting that another team has to be willing to accept your trade. In case you haven't noticed, the Flyers have had a hard time finding said trade partners.
- JoeRussomanno

I'm still trying to figure out that indeed Montreal was willing to trade Subban? I believe he is still playing for the Habs and signed a two year contract extension. Kind of hard to trade for a player who seemingly wasn't available.

If I'm GM I try to add another top shelf defenseman, let the team get healthy and another season of these kids seasoning oughta do it.

So you're trying to make me believe that if the Flyers offered Poile - Coots, Schenn and 3 1st round draft picks for Weber, it was guaranteed he would be a Flyer. The Preds just signed Weber for the next two decades and half the franchise value because they didn't get a fair enough deal.

What is the time frame from now, when you expect the core to hit their prime? Bryzgalov's cap hit is not huge now, and it certainly won't be huge 3 years or more from now, as Cap hits and salaries escalate.
- MJL

3 to 4 years. And his cap hit is huge now go research cap hit for goalies. Guarantee bryz in top 5. So to recap you say we should keep the average bryz pay him top 5 cap hit when there are 15 to 20 goalies better than him. But your afraid to take chance on young goalie with high potential with some experience that's stuck behind a starter ala hasek behind Balfour. And you ? Me about everyone thiNks Phillis a joke??? Wake up!!!! Same song !!! Kool aid!!! There you go crack your joke at least I see the light and am tired of defending Clarke and homer. Who happen to have played with parent. That's the funniest part would think they know better. ReprogramYourself

I say we play this season out and then make the moves we need to become a cup contender.

You might want to do that research on the Cap hit. Because I guarantee you he is not in the top 5. His Cap hit is not huge. And the longer it goes, as Cap hits escalate, his Cap hit becomes lower relative to Cap hit growth. You're entitled to your opinion, but there aren't that many Goalies better then he is right now. He is playing at a very high level. And he is not average.
This is the second time you've stated that I'm afraid to do something. I have no skin in the game. What I'm against is bad moves. Which the majority of what you propose are.

Bryzgalov is 8th on the list for goalies with largest cap hits.

Bryzgalov doesn't have to be as good as Thomas was for the Flyers to have a chance to win the Cup with him. Chicago won the Cup with Anti Niemi! Now bryz is a stone! LOL He certainly looked like one today! I know it was against the Islanders.

How long are you expecting this core to take to develop? Longer then 4 to 5 years?
And the Flyers obtaining a defenseman or a Winger is not tied to buying out Bryzgalov.

Thanks for making my point. We don't have a Kane type or Keith that's what we need!!!!!!! How do we get them with no cap room ???? You do it thru trades. What are our strengths to trade from??????? How about the 5 centers we have!!!!!! Except g I say trade one for a Kane type player ie perry. If you have to throw a pick in or a read so be it. We are dealing from our surplus!! Trade picks for dman or vice versus. It can be done without weakening our team. Buyout Bryz for cap room so many different ways to go about it.

you can't just buyout people and not have a contingency and an unproven prospect is not a contingency.

Couple of questions:

Who is going to replace Bryz then if we buy him out?

Why do we need a Kane-type of player? We need a winger for Giroux you're saying?

Wouldn't you consider getting a franchise D-man, or #1 d-man more important than another forward?
