Buyouts can only be performed during the specified buyout period, typically before free agency.
- BulliesPhan87

Thanks. I wasn't sure if there was a specific time or not.

That's whatum talking about. I like bishop too. Wouldn't costa whole lot. La has another goalie in minors now(can't think of name) that's gonna be goodtoo. That's my point there are teaMs with excess. With buyouts we'd have cap space for free agency. Trading an asset ( coots or schenn read checky briere) and using picks in whatever cOmbo can get us goalie dman to replace kimmo and true winger. 3 to 4 years from now we'd look like Chicago does now. If we stay pat were f'ed

I'm talking for the future. I think Bryzgalov can have 3 or 4 very good years left. After that his play could very well tail off. Bishop is 26, older than I thought he was.

Cousins is rocking too as long as he isn't in trouble. I'd go really hard after Perry and use a young winger to bolster the draft.
- jstross

That's what italking about. Ghost is coming cousins is a monster McGinn is staying Laughton coming. Let's go get perry. Think about this poop people g with a perry g with a Nash g with a kocalchuck. Not them but you get the point. Laughton showed he's going to be a nice 3rd line defensive player move schenn or coots for that dman or goalie

I wouldn't mind buying Briere out if they got Perry.

Likes a whole lot. Top end true talent now add a subban or the like and think a few years down the road.

I think the only (top) available defenseman to get is Yandle but many don't consider him a true number one.

I'm not trying to be a jerk when I say this, but it's easier said than done. I'm all for getting top talent on this team, if they price makes sense, but there's more than a couple factors that prevent banking on such moves. For instance, we can't control where Perry wants to go. If we could do that, Parise and Suter would be Flyers right now. It's the same thing with other teams, we can't force them to want to move players, let alone at reasonable prices.

That's why I said trade a coot and add to package if needed to get your winger or dman or goalie. We have more talent coming in the next few years plus our core iS young. Think chi

Doing his best Cousins impression I see....

I'll tell you what- those 2 are developing very nicely. Hopefully they keep it up!

Cooter and a1st is more than likely going to get a true winger. Trade a 1st and 2nd for bishop or bernier. Just examples overpay a little if have too. Our core is here. And we have replacements coming. Ghost cousins McGinn is here just like la did last year. They traded for pieces with their asserts. Yeah Laughton not as good as coots or schenn but already proved he's going to be a nice player like a b sutter

Buy out Bryz now while he's playing at a very high level? Why do that? If they did that at years end, who is the goalie next year?

Not sure I like the idea of trading all these number 1 picks.

Trading Couturier is terrible idea, but at least it 's actually possible unlike your other idea of buying out Pronger.

He's suggesting to trade for a younger goalie like Schneider, Bernier, Bishop, etc.

Anyone hear if Cousins has improved his skating?

Last I heard it was an area of concern in his game. For an undersized guy that could be a killer when he comes to the NHL.

You can't rely on anybody that is 6 years out, let alone a goaltender. Drafting goalies is a crapshoot.

Stolarz has just as good a shot to fall flat like Oullette than to become an above average NHL starter.

Which wouldn't be a terrible approach. You have a cheaper guy that hits his prime the same time as most of the young core.

I would however use any available pieces to bring in star level talent for the back end.

Nothing wrong with an older goaltender, I was a huge fan of Roloson up until the end. The Flyers technically also have another season to make a real decision on Bryzgalov if I am not mistaken, regarding buyouts that is. For now, I think you keep the crazy bastard.

I don't like that idea. Trading assets for a young goalie who is unproven could be risky. I wouldn't mind getting a guy like Bishop to backup Bryz for a few years if he could be acquired reasonably.

The problem with Bryz isn't the next three to four years but more towards the last three seasons of his deal.
