I really like the way Z has played, McGinn too for that matter. I also like Wellwood so what do I know.
- jstross

Yep. Flyers suddenly have some decent options. There is at least some youthful depth right now.

I think you are kidding. McGinn was one of the better Flyers on the ice in the game in Winnipeg.
- PLindbergh31

definitely just kidding around

a big bodied young winger that skates well, plays physical, and isn't completely brain-dead = a good thing

Good question. I would assume Harry Z. He played well today. Laviolette praised him post game for his energy on the ice and in the room.

I'd give Knuble a "maintenance game" or four.

I wonder if Wellwood will get another chance this year.
- stveshdy

I don't know, Z and McGinn have really stepped up and Rinaldo is behaving. I could see Wellwood going to get a pick or move up a round or something.

That is an option. Knuble is a professional, he wouldn't make waves if he was scratched a few games. He hasn't played badly imo. He's been ok.

Cousins is rocking too as long as he isn't in trouble. I'd go really hard after Perry and use a young winger to bolster the draft.

They should hold onto him. Keep the young guys in the system unless they feel he will never be up here again.

Perry would look awesome in orange and black. He would do damage playing with Giroux.

I wouldn't mind buying Briere out if they got Perry.

Giving up on from core for unproven parts at unfavorable costs is the opposite of 'fully committing'. Why don't we watch this team play, see what's available, and as far as trades/free agents go strike when the iron is hot?
- BulliesPhan87

Because we don't have the cap space! That's the point if we honestly look around the league and think we can't win cup fully committ clear the cap with trades and buy outs then tinker with the team. We Have alot of parts we are close but a few years off. Last thing I want is to wait while watch core develop and have same team cause no cap space to improve and core gets older and our window closes and we have to rebuild anyways. Buyouts for 2 years only. After that we are stuck. Does anyone really believe this tEam wins cup in next few years

Will be interesting to see if Anaheim can sign both Getzlaf and Perry. I'm sure they will make every effort to do so.

Let me guess smarty mike smith is great right? Um last I checked he sucks. Product of Phoenix just like bryz. Bernier just example. I know everyone is used to poopty Philly goalies and think bryz is playing other worldly but if you are honest and watch other teams. There's gotta be at least 15 other goalies you'd take before him and his humongous big contract. Stop trying to be tough and defend. Were all flyers fans here and in not kidding myself and you shouldn't either. Bryz is most likely not a starting Stanley cup winning goalie.
- SMS4016

I just want to make sure you know that Bryz isn't "stealing games" because the Flyers have scored 2 or less goals in something like all but 3 of their games this season.

Bryzgalov has been playing Vezina caliber hockey this season.

That's a no brainer. The thing is, you buy Briere out and miss out on Perry, all of a sudden you are up poops creek without a paddle.

He is still a beast along the boards and I like that they can trot him out on the power play but he just seems like the odd man out to me. McGinn fits into Lavy's system (/open's can of worms/) better and can gain on-the-job NHL experience. Knuble, to me, is just filling in for Hartnell. (Speaking of which has there been any more word on the Wookie's status for Wed.?)

Can't they sign Perry than buyout Briere?

Jsaq said yesterday he saw Hartnell was an option for Wednesday. I think Hartnell has only skated once that I heard, I don't know if he's practiced yet either. I would be surprised if he played Wednesday.

Buyouts can only be performed during the specified buyout period, typically before free agency.

If the Flyers were indeed interested in a young goaltender, I would look to Ottawa. This Bishop monster is very impressive. They also have Robin Lehner as well. He's a big prospect. Would love to see the Flyers get their hands on one of these guys for the future.
- PLindbergh31

That's whatum talking about. I like bishop too. Wouldn't costa whole lot. La has another goalie in minors now(can't think of name) that's gonna be goodtoo. That's my point there are teaMs with excess. With buyouts we'd have cap space for free agency. Trading an asset ( coots or schenn read checky briere) and using picks in whatever cOmbo can get us goalie dman to replace kimmo and true winger. 3 to 4 years from now we'd look like Chicago does now. If we stay pat were f'ed
