This team already has the Goalie it needs. They do need a #1 D man. So propose a deal involving Couturier for a #1 D man, and we'll talk.
- MJL

Coots to mon for subban. They are small at center and have markov. We sting at center need d. Win win

Yes to do because in NHL now teams that can't move puck quick suck. Look at chi pit sj look at how fast those top dmen retrieve puck and turn to instant offense Then watch us. We won't win cup without puck movers. We have the defensive dmen now get a subban yandle Larson pietreangelo type. Young so the can grow witH young forwards
- SMS4016

Do you really know what Yandle is? He is better offensive version of Matt Carle. Who is less physical, and worse in his own end then Carle is. He is a good puck mover and PP QB. Who would put up points and help the team offensively. But he is not a player that you trade Couturier for. Disregarding position, if Couturier if he reaches his potential, will be a far better overall player then Yandle is.
I would not trade him for Subban either. Still a question mark. Neither would I for Larson, even though I love him. Doubt he's available. Pietrangelo is definitely not available.

So I'll again ask two questions. What #1 defenseman can we trade Couturier for? Not an example or type of playwer. But which #1?

And do you think that Claude Giroux hits?

he's absolutely a number 1, IMO.

but, i feel like the #1 defenseman tag needs defining. because, it seems as though you think there are maybe only 10 teams with a "#1"

The Montreal Canadiens are not a retail store, though. You can't just go in, pay a posted price of one (1) Couturier (plus tax where applicable), and get a PK Subban. It seems the Canadiens aren't willing to part with Subban, there's nothing you can do to force that trade short of a stupid offer (like Giroux for PK, or Schenn + Couturier for PK).

At this point in his career. Subban is not a #1. He's not even the best defenseman on his team. There aren't that many true #1 defenseman in the League.

definitely...and maybe it's just a temporary move for whatever reason. it would shock me, however, if lava felt rinaldo is winning said competition

You need to be able to understand the game. Couts has the ability to shut down other teams top forwards. Look at how frustrated the Hart Trophy winner was in the playoffs last year, going up against that trade bate, dime a dozen rookie.
- jak521

Pitt had a complete meltdown like we used to against buffalo. If any flyers fan thinks coots can shut malkin down consistently over their careers ate high. I hate Pitt sooo much but face it coots did good job but I'm leaning a little more on the putt meltdown as a bigger factor

One thing for sure. McGinn does not deserve to be sat. Perhaps he's a little banged up and they just want him to take a breather. He's taken some hard hits lately.

this could be it. if he's healthy, though, this majorly irks me.
