They should wrap it up with a cartoon showing the Isles "accidentally" leaving Sparky behind in the Coliseum as it's locked down and scheduled for demolition. - UIF
that will be great publicity I tell you. I think they go with something new. |

Darn it, leave Uncle Cholly alone! He's only human and did plenty of good, and put alot of love into LI and the franchise.
Keep Nelson...RESIGN MOLSON ASAP (show appreiation and do it for JT)
LET'S GO ISLANDERS! - Numbers65
Need to offer Hamonic and Streit extensions first.
Offer Moulson a 4 yr extention the same as Tavares. Both can run out @ the same time.
We need RW'er's... any ideas??????? |

Hate the matchup against the Flyers...even if the Flyers have been struggling a bit. Too many strong forwards...the kind that usually give the Isles fits. They better jump on Philly early. - UIF
This is a game where the simple act of "outskating" might be a good thing....especially if the goalie gives up a couple of cheapies early. That said, they are good at net crashing, which is our biggest weakness defensively. I'm assuming our $4.5M bench warmer isn't playing goal until tomorrow, so at least we'll probably have that going for us. |

ny islanders are 11th in espn power rankings which is based on winning percentage and strength of schedule we have had the hardest schedule in the eastern conference 607 winning percentage rangers are second at 581. we are in the toughest division in the league and have played 4 vs the devils 500 record 2 vs the rangers 500 record 2 vs pittsburgh 500 record and now today we play the worst team in the division so far this year the flyers which makes this game huge we have 4 more games vs pittsburgh and rangers if we go 500 vs them and take care of business vs the flyers will be over 500 in our division which will be huge considering we were 8-13 last year against the atlantic. if we are over 500 in our division you would think we have a shot to make the playoffs but we have to beat philadelphia 3 out of 4 if not a sweep. |

PS- Watched a bit of Miami OH vs. ND yesterday. Anders Lee didn't impress me all that much....looked kind of slow. That said, the outdoor ice surface at Soldier Field appeared to be sh*t, and the game was really sloppy- so maybe that's an unfair assessment. That said, he just doesn't look like a guy who is going to crack this lineup in the middle of the forward ice; we just have too much talent in that spot. Maybe he's one of the assets we can throw in a trade for a defensman....assuming they sign him... |

It's the cost that concerns me. Especially with the upcoming UFA class. While we have been awful in the UFA category over the last few years, I'm anticipating that this MAY be a different kind of offseason coming for the Isles. If that is the case, if Snow plans to kick the rebuild into overdrive this season, then there's no better time than with a UFA class like this coming offseason.
I'd much rather throw $5-6 million over 4-5 years at someone like a Joe Thornton, Marleau, Datsyk, Sedin (either), etc. I realize most of the guys on that list will resign but there are far better players to be had this upcoming offseason than O'Reilly not to mention the prospects we anticipate challenging for a role next year.

Some nice looking UFA's on that list. I wouldn't mind getting Dustin Brown to replace KO |

Actually, my biggest beef is with people who defend those who have CLEARLY ALREADY NOT PANNED OUT, like the aforementioned "he who would sit in the hallway if he played for the visiting team at the Coliseum". Arguing the potential of future prospects, unless you're talking about a Tavares type who is obviously NHL caliber at 19 years of age, is like telling me what the Motor Trend "car of the year" is for 2013, before I've had the chance to beat the cr*p out of it for 200,000 miles. I especially love ESPN and their draft grades that come out two days after any draft that happens...alrighty then....... - dcb1
I can't stand when people put guys that have never stepped on NHL ice on our first pairing or line and second line and say, "look at that line up, we are set!" |
