I think Nelson can be a 40 goal scorer. I would consider him an untouchable.
- potvin05

I would not give up Nelson as well. He seems to have the size and skill that the Isles need. I would give up a Frans, KO, Pedan or Mayfield type package. I just hope the Rangers or Philly do not get O'Reilly. I can live with another team getting him. I do hope the Isles make an honest effort to get him though.

I'm sure the price is very high...Avs probably want Okposo and Reinhardt..which Snow probably countered with Neilsen and Donovan or something like that...
- kear20

I'm interested to see if Frans was offered. If so we will see how high Frans is viewed by other teams. I would not give up Reinhardt.

Don't they want a quality d-man, a roster player and a 1st..

Then the team will have to still agree with this greedy kid on a contract, or this starts all over again..Greedy Kids.

If they want a quality d-man and a 1st that knocks the Isles out.

Leafs as well.

I also think that the Isles will beat the Flyers tonight. 5-1. Flyers blow, and seem to be getting worse..

Not to have an argument with you but then you're saying if Nelson is a 40 goal scorer he is better than Tavares because JT has never scored 40 goals. I think Nelson might be a 20-25 goal scorer which makes more sense...
- kear20

No argument. You could be right. I think Nelson is a different type of player than Tavares. Nelson might never play in the NHL. I would not trade him for O'Reilly. I'm actually a little stunned at what he wants.

I'll say it now...for the talent it requires THEN the contract he wants, O'Reilly is not worth it.

You figure the Isles should have a good chance of winning today. Let's see if the Isles have turned a corner. While I really like O'Reilly he needs to put up better numbers if he wants 5 mill.

Potvin I'd put together a Frans and KO type package and a prospect not Nelson and if that is not good enough so be it. If Frans is a player the rest of the NHL players are in love with than he should be able to get it done. With Strome and Nelson on the way I do not go overboard for O'Reilly. If it's Malkin I would go overboard.

Yep. Pretty much this. The 3rd guy would probably have to be pedan, mayfield, or our 1st round pick, though. The more I think about it, the less sense it makes to trade for him. If it were JUST a trade or JUST a contract I'd say (frank) it. But thecombo of the 2 factors together scare me.

Personally, I think the greedy little wanker needs his ass kicked. He should be the good team-mate, shut his mouth; come to camp in great shape and be prepared to play hocket. In stead of holding his team hostage. Imagine if they can't find a trade partner and he goes into that dressing room. The Habs gave Subban a hard time, The Avs room would be a mess.

No question O'Reilly does not look good in this thing. The guy is not Joe Sakic. If the Isles can get it done by giving up a Frans and KO package fine otherwise no dice.

I can see him being a Keith Primeau type. Big centers with Skill you really need to hold onto.

I agree with bixll. I don't like the O'Reilly situation the more I think about it.

the other thing to consider is that O'Reilly has had one half decent season of 50 plus points. He doubled the previous two years. Which is more likely to be the real O'Reilly? The reason the Avs wanted him to sign the bridge contract is that he hasn't shown he's able to duplicate those numbers or become even better. What happens if he's a Comeau?

I don't like the situation, and unless it's Okposo and a 3rd (which is nowhere near enough) then I'm not making a deal for him. Which means I wouldn't be making a deal for him.

Hate the matchup against the Flyers...even if the Flyers have been struggling a bit. Too many strong forwards...the kind that usually give the Isles fits. They better jump on Philly early.

As for Nelson, I wouldn't move him yet. His development's on a nice trajectory, and he seems like a very versatile forward. Could be a second-line center, second-line winger, third-line center...who knows where he'd fit eventually, assuming he makes it. But it's probably worth seeing what the Isles have in him first before determining his trade value, or deciding whether he should be moved at all.
