Gotta eat some crow on Scrivens and Orr. I wasn't sold on Scrivens early, looked real shakey, but has seemed to really calm down and stay focused in the net, been playing great. I didn't think Orr should have been on this team out of camp, and i've been completely wrong! He's in much better shape, as you can tell by his skating and his endurance. He's been a great story this year.

Someone at Sportsnet recently wrote a great article about Orr's comeback. After a couple seasons with Wilson his career was basically over. A few months with Eakins and he's a brand new guy. Go figure. Eakins is such a huge part of this organization. Sooner or later they're going to lose him to an NHL team and that will be a shame because he's exactly the kind of guy you want working with your prospects.

frank Grabo, did you not see my proposed line up?

Lupol O'Reilly Kessel
JVR Kadri Fratten
Kulimen Bozak Komarov

who wouldn't get excited over those lines?

- bobbyisno1

Dude the price on a sore hold-out is too rich for my blood... if you could do the Grabo deal.. which you can't I might go for it.. straight up since the one is a kid.. but I don't think Avs want to hand 5 mil to almost anyone.. so it will never happen.

For any youth and future I wouldn't go anywhere near him.

Kessel was a hold out and i wanted him too
- bobbyisno1

There really wasn't enough money (cap space) to sign Kessel even if he had agreed to a contract below his worth.

The Bruins just couldn't pay him anything remotely close to what he was worth and they knew it.

Agreed on Eakins but you also have to credit Carlyle with his development also...

Yep Eakins has done a wonderful job not only developing young talent, but getting guys that are in their mid and late 20's to reach their maximum potential.

if you really want good french fries you soak them in brine over night then you blanch them in hot oil till they are soft, refrigerate or freeze them till you want to finally cook them

I wonder if he'd accept a promotion to assistant coach for a year or two and then step into Carlyle's job around 2015/16.

he is youth and future, you got to give to get. Grabo you can unload at the trade deadline to some team that thinks they are one piece away

All Carlyle has really had to do is show Orr a little respect which is something Wilson never did. I would be surprised if Wilson ever spoke a word to Colton, he had no interest in having him on the team. Carlyle understands the role guys like Orr play.

You would have to trade future and roster spot, and a pick for him.. no way in my books.. those top picks next year are worth more than 3 of him..

Agreed but he also told him he had to get in better shape in their meetings at the end of the season.. and to work on his foot speed, skating... probably defined his role more.. and what his expectations were.. whereas Wilson just didn't want him anywhere near the team.

Wilson had a fundamentally different philosophy on the game than Burke. Wilson doesn't really believe fighting has a place in hockey, for instance.

Is it any wonder Burke couldn't bring any pugnacity and truculence to this team? Is it any wonder we got beat around by the Bruins? Why opposing players practically sat on top of our goalies?

if you are going that route, than Kessel and Phaneuf have to go too. cause by the time that pick is ready it will be too late. we need a center that somebody has already half way developed, just to be half decent and then free agents might be enticed

With the lottery the way it is every non-playoff team has a crack at the #1 pick many of those picks at the top next season might start straight away..

Now I feel you on Phaneuf.. trading him might be an option.. but I wouldn't give up on Kessel just yet.. although if their is contract issues.. he might become expendable also..

We already have three solid number 2 quality centers - why would we trade assets to get another??? O'Reilly makes no sense for the Leafs right now if it costs us guys like Gardiner/Bozak/picks, that would be a terrible Leaf trade. Not to mention that he is looking to be overpaid! Don't get me wrong, I like O'Reilly but we don't need him.
We need a true potential number 1 center. Would rather beef up our offer and go after someone like Strome or Couture.

What happened to the Nucks fans comparing goalie stats?

I'm sure their argument would still be valid... right?

hmm... lets check...

3)Ben Scrivens
7)Roberto 7o7ongo
10) James Reimer
21) Rob Schneider
