Think you're taking the branless comment a bit far, i'm a huge fan of Gardiner and wouldn't move him unless it was great deal for Toronto. I was legitemately asking if anyone has seen O'Reilly, no sarcasm...because I haven't seen that much and from a lot of accounts he's a pretty good two way player, but is he a franchise or even a top centre type player? Probably not, but who knows...

Ya that's just it ...I don't know either. Makes for good discussion though. Top line centres who can play 20+ good minutes a night are almost impossible to come by so if my scouts tell me he fits that description then as much as i like Gardiner I probably do that deal.

No, I agree with that. I've said before that Liles and Bozak is a fair price for him, and I think that the Avs won't get many better deals. If he was on a long-term cap-friendly contract then sure, but not for just his rights.

Both were RFA's who weren't signed, true. But whereas O'Reilly's dispute is over money that he hasn't earned/justified, Kessel's situation was over money that the Bruins simply didn't have.

Kessel wasn't really holding out for a huge contract that the Bruins didn't want to pay; the Bruins simply did not have the cap space to pay it.

I'd be more inclined to part with the 1st if getting O'Reilly got us into the playoffs, but Kadri? No. Just no.

Carter is a goal scorer not a play maker. We need someone who can move the puck better. Why do you think Carter had no chemistry with Nash?

And just the space carter would open up for kessel would make a big difference

I'd do Grabo/Gunnar/3rd for O'Reilly probably. I don't like the Grabo contract at all, so getting rid of it would be a bonus, Gunnar is a real solid NHL defenseman, but with the depth on the blueline Toronto can afford to give up one of their D. 3rd rounder is obviously a crapshoot.
