I'm still not convinced this is for real. Carlyle's got him playing bigger, for sure, but I have a feeling this might turn into one of those regretful "should have sold high" moments. - Leeman4Gilmour
you mean like Rask for Raycroft? |

Nor is trading 2 much 2 the avs - The_Vark
No, but the price we were talking was Gardiner and a lesser asset. If it's something like Gardiner and a second, I'd do it. |

this is the catch....I like Kadri at 1.7 - Barx
And if you don't move Grabo or Bozak in a trade for O'Reilly, what happens to the line-up?
Let's assume O'Reilly goes in at #1... Grabo, Kadri, Bozak have two spots to fill.
I'd hate to shift Kadri to the wing now. We finally groomed him as a center. Bozak is an ideal #3. Could Grabo play the wing well? |

If we want to go deep in the playoffs in the next few years we should keep both - JIMI-JAMES
We are no closer to going deep in the playoffs with 2 good offensive D than with 1 good offensive D and a number 1 centre.
And yes, I definitely think O'Reilly can end up as a good number 1 centre. |

Agreed, I think Grabo is the odd man out in this scenario. O'Rielly slots in on the 2nd line. Bozak has the ability to play on the first line due to chemistry with Kessel, and also would be a great 3rd line ceneter if we obtain a legitmate first line center. AVS apparently dont want a center, but that doesnt mean we cant make a 3 team trade happen. |

Same, although I dont know how much trade value MacA has these days. Grabo should have decent trade value though.

Yeah, I don't think anybody blames the Leafs for hanging on to Kulemin, given how he looked that year he scored 30.
But can you imagine the return we could have gotten for him? |

If it was straight up O'Rielly for Gardiner i would do it in a hurry but adding to Gardiner would have to be a low end prospect/pick at max and i would have to think hard about that especially if it's gonna take 5mil a season to get him locked up..... - Fruitcakenipple
Not a chance. The kid wants a major payout after one decent season, thats not the kind of guy we need. Gardiner is going to offer much better value for the foreseeable future, and may have a higher ceiling. I know some here overrate Gardiner immensely, and maybe I'm one of them, but right now I wouldn't Give up Gardiner for O'Reilly unless it was O'Reilly plus. 107 points in three years does not get you $4m a year plus... |

Can't believe Leafs fans are suddenly okay with trading Gardiner. Hell, I'd probably keep him over Phaneuf.
So far, really glad we didn't trade for a goalie. IMO, with this being a shortened season you should let the kids run in net and give them the experience. Would be much better to see one of them excel then trade a few good pieces from this team for another goalie.
JVR for Schenn trade is looking great too!
Pretty stoked about this next week and a bit. Saturday making the trek to Ottawa for the Leafs vs Sens game (rocking the Orr jersey of course), then Wednesday heading to T.O to watch the Leafs hopefully dismantle the smurfs!

Carter is a goal scorer not a play maker. We need someone who can move the puck better. Why do you think Carter had no chemistry with Nash? |

But Kessel has shown himself to have a very nice creative touch. I'm perfectly fine trying him out with a scoring centre |

cause Nash couldn't move the puck, Kessel dishes the puck off nicely |

Carter would get ripped apart in Leafs nation. Watched a few Kings games and you hardly notice him... Looks like he's really lazy. Wouldn't take long for the vultures here to start picking him apart, lol. |
