Kostka yes....Holzer has been up and down.
- Fakepartofme

Kostka started out well, but has been passed by Fraser Holzer and Franson lately.

Ya in his 3rd full year playing a on line with Landeskog...imagine that.
- Fakepartofme

It's obvious that the guy has talent, but it's also obvious that he benefited from big minutes.

He's done nothing to indicate he's a top line center. But he's shown already that he's a very good defensive center, who can play 2nd/3rd line very well.

Obviously the guy would be an upgrade over Bozak, but that's a low, low bar as far as top line Cs are concerned.

That being said, Gardiner is also pretty overrated around here.

Komi can't help a defensively poor team as evident under Ron Wilson. But I believe he can help a good team that has 4 or 5 good D-men. To a contender, Komi can be a good 5th, 6th or 7th depth D-man. Problem with the Leafs under RW, they were relying on Komi too much & giving him too many minutes. Hard to believeas of yet that a contender hasn't enquired about Komi. I'm sure the asking price is very low. I'm sure Nonis would take a 4th pick straight up.

With Gunarsson & Gardiner on the horizon, Koztka may eventually get demoted.

Im in this camp on OReilly. Having had only one good year and now a holdout is scaring teams im guessing or a deal would have already been done. I prefer my team stay away. Not like the Avs would trade him within division anyways.

gunnarson doesnt deserve a spot on this team, we have been winning without him and he has no upside.. hes solid thats all.. well so are the other guys but they are physical

they can't, he'd have to go through waivers and he wouldnt make it. I think a trade is more likely.

He should take whatever he's offered, simply because he's not in our top 6, possibly not in our top 8 (with Gardiner and Gunnarson), and he's 4M plus against the cap. Logic would dictate any offer should work.

Hey Gluckster how are ya? Everyone forgets how amazing Gardiner was last season. The amazing element he brought to the Leafs. I haven't forgotten, He's struggled this year due to not yet finding his game to being injured. Honestly I think the Ave would be lucky to get Gardiner or a talent like him straight up for O'Reiily. Though if I wasn't Nonis I wouldn't do it.

As for Gardiner, I'm of the opinion you can never have too many d. Percy/Finn/Blacker, they can all turn out to be the next Brendan Bell. Just stick with what we have, and make damn sure we continue to make the most of our picks.

I agree but I don't understand, if were saying to trade Komi for a 7th pick, than why is Komi still a Leaf? Surely a contender needing defensive help would take him for a 7th.

What's the point? might as well keep him for depth in case Kostka/Holzer/Fraser start playing poorly. A 7th round pick is useless.

I think maybe Nonis is hoping that teams get more desperate because of injuries. Who knows really. I'm shocked that he's even in the pressbox, in the 4 games he's played he looked fine to me, aside from the Ranger game which I didn't see. Plus I don't know what the intangibles are for his stupid NMC. I think there was more to that whole fibreglass in the eye incident, I wonder if the stick shattered because Komi was fighting with one of his coaches again.
