And unlike any of those other goalies, Reimer doesn't have the same track record. Brian Elliot led the league in everything last year. Doesn't mean he's a legitimate starter. - Two_For_Truth
When you see reimer play, do you see a #1 goalie? This year I say yes. Last year, no. Year before yes. I think he's a #1, just based on what I've seen. |

Columbus owns their 1st too. Columbus I think is going to have a real good draft. |

When you see a player score a hat-trick, do you see a 1st line player just because he scored a hat-trick?
The point is, there are a lot of talented players in the NHL and that means for stretches of time, they can appear to be really good. The thing that separates a #1 goalie from the rest of the pack is long term consistency. Whether it be injuries or circumstance, Reimer has yet to play a full season. Until he does at least that more than once, the questions will always be there. Being injury prone is another issue starting to creep up on him. That's another problem to consider. |

Of course not, we still have no idea what he will do in crunch time (whether it be down the stretch or the playoffs). But as for sample sizes, I think its fair to call him a #1 goalie, he's the best one we've had since Belfour. Again, that's not saying he's among the best....that .920 plus spct has to stick for the entire year, with at least 30 starts for me even to consider such a thought. |

Read post below. Point is, right now he's doing the job, or was till he got hurt.
As for the hat trick statement, come on UG, you said yourself repeatedly this team is/was horrible. One of the worst. Yet somehow, with reimer in goal, this horrible team is 40 27 9. Thats 89 points, in 78 starts. Not bad, even with a horrible year last year. |

Columbus is in a great position right now. All they have to do is keep tanking it. Perfect year to have an expert drafting GM and three 1st round picks in a strong draft year. If they get lucky, and play their cards right, they could walk away with both MacKinnon and Drouin.
John Davidson is another great reason why Columbus is going in the right direction. Leafs should have been all over Davidson especially when they knew they were going to fire Burke anyway. A lost opportunity. |

Reimer has a better Save Percentage than Price, Rask, and Lundqvist. Ahead of Lundqvist in GAA, but behind Price, Rask, and Rinne. You can't say he isn't a good goalie; you're dismissing him like a backup. - Compeyson
can you honestly say that Reimer's value is on the same level as those goalies? because you have Vezina winners and All-Stars in there... |

Lots of goalies get the job done for short periods of time. Until he plays at least a full season, it's up in the air. |

I agree. I'm very shocked though that 15 gp in to a season, both goalies have a .925 plus spct. Pleasantly surprised actually. Just like I'm pleasantly surprised that Kadri is our leading point getter, and that we're 9-6 1/3 of the way through the season. |

It was Howson who got those first rounders though. Davidson was hired in October, after the nash and carter trades. |

It's been an unusual season but I wouldn't expect those numbers to stay that way, even in a 48 game season. A good week or a bad week does either wonders or horrors to the numbers. |

I'd rather not see good young players suffer serious injuries because of cheap shots to be honest - toskala4vezina
He puts himself in a vulnerable position by being against the boards with his head facing down. Schenn could have let up, but players still have to protect themselves.
Not to mention that after Gionta drilled Reimer, I have much less sympathy. |

Howson got those picks as damage control after the Carter and Nash disasters. I know that he was the one who got the 1st round picks. I'm saying that the Davidson and Jarmo Kekalainen are the right guys to be making those picks in a strong draft year. |

fair enough. but my original point was about Ottawa, and that i don't think you can say that Reimer's absence in Toronto is just as catastrophic as Karlsson's in Ottawa. |

Case in point Scrivens. Yeah I know. I'm not very confident in scrivens, he just seems to fight the puck too much. like you said, too much movement in the crease. |
