Under Carlyle, the leafs have drastically improved their defensive play. And guys like Kostka, Fraser, and Holzer have fit in quite nicely. But I wouldn't expect someone who probably hasn't seen 1 leaf game this year to know that.

The funny part about this is, that an Edmonton fan is talking smack about another team's defence.

gardiner cant even stick in the nhl? LOL dude he was coming off an injury and he was sent down to get back in shape. no point rushing him when the leafs are doing well.

as i just pointed out, TO had 2nd worst D to EDM's 8th worst. Now that's not a large margin, but in an attempt to help that, even a little bit, they signed highly touted Justin Schultz. It will only help slightly, but To's only attempt to fix their D was by sending Gardiner down and calling up career AHLers.

I've watched 3 leafs games this year (yes, not a lot) but what I've seen is kostka can move the puck, but he and Phaneuf are sloppy as all hell in their end.

At least EDM looks for improvement and can be patient through rough patches. TO just trades their future for players like Kessel, and then want to run Kessel out of town after a rough start.

Also, it's 12 games leafs fans, don't get your playoff boners just yet.
