AGREED - sabresfandan
It's been said on 4 different blogs beside this one, thats not just me talking. IMO other teams will offer more because they see the potential in O'Reilly.
Exactly and that's why we won't get him cause I don't think we'll move Ennis. - sabresfandan
I think moving Ennis is definitely a possibility, not necessarily for O'Reilly. We easily could've signed him to a longer deal this offseason but chose to make it a short 2-year deal. Remember this contract was proposed and signed after we made the move for Hodgson and drafted Girgs and Grigs. I don't think DR would actively try to get rid of Ennis but I think he sees there might not be room for all these centers in a couple years.
I think, and this is just my opinion, Ennis was Regeir's key piece when we were trying to get Bobby Ryan this offseason. And if we really are in on O'Reilly(which I hope we are), I think Ennis is also his big chip.
I love Ennis and would be completely happy if he was on our team for his prime years, but I just have a feeling he isn't going to be part of our plan long-term.

I've said it all along. Any big name player we bring in here Ennis will be the key piece to making the deal happen.
He doesn't get it. He's trading him a hundred times a blog. - sippyd
What don't I get?
It's what I'd rather see happen... Whys it have to be Ennis?
Maybe they want Foligno?
None of us KNOW,
So I really don't think throwing my opinion out there is a big deal

Ennis or another big name, correct. I'm sure Staffords value isn't completely worthless - SABRES 89
I think so too but I think Stafford could be dealt somewhere like a one for one type deal, as you said before like a Dustin Penner or a Devin Setoguchi.

They do want Foligno but he's not moving and it won't be a player that's not playing in the NHL, it starts with Ennis whether any of us like it or not. the deal is....................
A proven NHL player thats playing now
D man
and a prospect or pick.

Correct 2 guys that need a change, however I don't think it matters for Penner something is wrong with that guy. Very lazy.
I would ship Ennis to the Colorado for O'Reilly in a second. Not because I dislike Ennis, but because we need a 2-way center in the Drury/Peca mold badly. A team with Hodgson, Grigorenko, Girgs and O'Reilly at center would be pretty sick in a couple of seasons!

I love how everyone was so willing to give away Ennis prior to his final stretch of games last season. Now it's more of the same although he is one of the select few producing and on a line where the others aren't. He is still young and one of the guys who actually showed up the last time we were in the playoffs. Just interesting that's all...

We drafted Grigorenko to be our #3C and Girgensons to be our #4C?
