Leggio is not an NHL goalie ! Good stats in the AHL do not make an NHL goalie . If so someone would have claimed him off waivers . He has glaring weaknesses to his game which will not go well in the NHL . Just because this guy is local . The fans of Buffalo want to keep bringing him up here . Buffalo management loves local guys , but they also know weaknesses . That is why he is not up here.

I think this team would be better with Leopold somewhere else and Pardy in the lineup every day
- homiedclown

I don't disagree at all. We'd be better with McNabb in the line up as well me thinks. I'd deal Leo to any taker ASAP for a 2 Rd pick or a good to mid level propect with some upside.

I really think the D would be better with the following
myers/weber
hoff/pardy
pysyk/mcnabb

sulzer

I would take that 7 over our current 8 d men any day of the week

with pardy, weber, pysyk and mcnabb you have guys that clear the front of the net

let the guys up front fly

Good to see Bucky Gleason still banging the drum for family friend Tim Kennedy in his column this morning.

However, some of the stats he posted regarding the standings and the chances of the Sabres making the playoffs in this shortened season are pretty scary. Basically, if the team goes on another 1-6-1 run like they did a couple of weeks ago, the season is done. If it isn't done already I guess....

Yep, they've dug themselves a hole. I don't see this current cast of characters going on a run, Darcy needs to shake it up.

Sabres among teams eyeing O'Reilly?
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Buffalo Sabres are among the teams believed to be interested in Colorado Avalanche restricted free agent center Ryan O'Reilly.

O'Reilly, 21, is still without a contract and the Avs have started to seriously explore the possibility of trading him.

The price tag, however, is steep, as Colorado GM Greg Sherman is asking for a top-six forward and a top prospect in exchange for O'Reilly.

It's unclear how serious talks between the Sabres and Avs have gotten, and it's uncertain what Buffalo GM Darcy Regier is willing to give up, however he does not appear interested in parting with the likes of Mikhail Grigorenko, Cody Hodgson or Tyler Ennis, while though Marcus Foligno could be someone Colorado takes a look at.

The Sabres, currently 12th in the Eastern Conference, would like to upgrade their roster, as Regier has been shopping for a top-six forward since the season started.

Several other teams, though, are also eyeing O'Reilly, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers and Winnipeg Jets.

O'Reilly is looking for a five-year contract worth around $5 million per season

Incase some wanted to see

I think that makes sense with the exception of Pysyk. He still looks like he needs a bit of seasoning in the AHL, but would he really be any worse than Leo at this point? I am thinking that's what the D will look like next season. They'll let Leo and Regehr walk if they're still on the roster to end the season and I think Sulzer will be a depth resigning on a 1 or 2 year deal. Sekera is the wildcard here. I am not down on him like others are, but with Myers and Hoff here long-term and Pysyk in the wings, they all play a similar game and it throws off the balance of the pairings IMO. Does Pardy have another year left on his deal?

what makes you think Isles ?
hopefully KO is in the deal.....

- Ur Not Me

I just think the Isles are a young and upcoming team and Garth Snow strikes me as the type to land a player like O'Reilly, just a hunch.

DENVER POST’s Adrian Dater reported via Twitter “Avs do not want another center for O’Reilly. Want an offensive D-man or proven forward/plus pick.” He also tweeted “Please stop with the Toronto rumors. Avs not interested in guys like Bozak."

Love that Toronto chirp at the end.

But, but, but isn't Toronto the center of the hockey universe?

Doesn't every trade rumor, free agent rumor and generally every move or transaction have to be linked to the Leafs above every other team?

I don't get Garth's delusion that Sekera is an offensive defenseman. Just because one can skate like Paul Coffey does not mean one has the offensive instincts like Paul Coffey.

Sekera will never be more than a 20-point guy, who's strength is skating the puck out of trouble. And there's nothing wrong with that. But, just stop, Garth, with miscasting this guy.
