Believe me, I have every doubt you do about Darcy doing anything like this. I'm just hoping it happens. We get rid of two guys most people wouldn't mind seeing gone and get a stud 21-year-old two-way center. It would be money. - Pierceme69
I agree, just got to see what other teams offer. |

So after catching up on the last 5-6 pages. The theme is......there are quite a few who drastically overvalue our players and don't understand the concept of give to get. Did I miss anything?
Amazing everyone calls for change but would be so unwilling to deal away anyone other than our crap......a crap sandwich of Stafford and UFA Leo isn't worth much |

Garth said that O'Reilly is the second coming of Toews, little to early for that. - SABRES 89
Absolutely... talk about a stretch projection. Toews in his rookie season had 6 more goals and only 1 less point (in 17 fewer games) than O'Reilly had in his 3rd and best season to date. I'm not saying that O'Reilly can't become that type of player... but he's nowhere near Toews right now! Complete overprojection. Thank goodness Garth is not a scout for the Sabres... he overvalues his favorites even more so than DR!!! I didn't think that was possible. And, I'm just curious, why does it seem like every time a half-decent player on another team is available in trade... Garth starts to talk them up like the 2nd coming of Gilbert Perreault?! Just like his preseason analysis of Grigorenko... keep commenting how he was flying up and down the ice, the kid has a hard time even keeping up with the NHL competition, let alone state he was flying up and down the ice?!?!?!? Again, I'm not saying that Grigorenko won't become great someday, he's just a baby right now. But Garth, seriously... come down from the clouds my friend and join the rest of us in reality. |

Could he be worse than Stafford? Could he make our PP any worse? Not saying I miss him but he wasn't used properly. - sbroads24
Actually Boyes looks very good on the PP. He cycles the puck very well and doesn't make stupid passes.
And whoever said inflated points on bad teams
He would do good on other teams PP units of given the time |

Stafford, Adam, Leino (or Gerbe) and Enroth for Iginla and Stempniak (throw in a back-up Goalie, either to back-up Miller or send to Amerks and call-up Leggio). At first glance, most would say there is no way that a package of these guys delivers Iginla. However, Iginla only has 1 goal and 8 assists this season... only a pair of assists better than Stafford right now. Staff is 8 years younger and locked up for 2 more seasons. Iginla is a UFA and not going to be re-signed by Calgary. They apparently need a back-up goalie and I believe we've seen that Enroth is capable, but not worth keeping if we can get a deal done like this. Adam needs a new home and still has some potential for a team thin up the middle like the Flames. I'd prefer that the Flames take Leino in this deal to balance the salaries, but probably wouldn't happen with the Flames budget. Therefore, Gerbe gets to start somewhere new (and likely not on a 4th line checking role), while Stempniak brings his veteran leadership and 5 goals this season home (he's from West Seneca). Stempniak is also affordable, as his contract is for only $2 million per year (for this year and next). |

And you're just like all the people who undervalue our players. Stafford has scored 20 goals twice and 30 goals once. He is a proven NHL forward. I think he is inconsistent and lacks motivation just as much as you probably do, but he has credentials other teams might like. Leopold looks like crap this year, but he has scored double digit goals the last two seasons and would be considered an offensive defenseman. Those are supposedly the two type of roster players the Avs want for ROR along with a prospect and/or pick. |

I hated the way Ruff used Boyes here. You could substitute his name with several other players for that matter. |

He did? Because he played well offensively? I could give a rip if he scores goals if he sucks on D. He is a defenseman. - Pierceme69
I'm an avid Yotes fan. Watch every game of theirs I can. Yandle is an absolute defensive trainwreck. Worse than Myers. He's good in the offensive zone but commits horrible turnovers every game.
OEL is 100% untouchable.
I'd love Rusty Klesla. |

Thanks for the perspective. I like the Yotes, mainly because I want to move to the Southwest and I realize if they don't relocate they could be my closest team one day. |

DD mentioned that Foligno is currently one of the top power forwards in the league. I'm not sure where he saw it though. My friend that I go to games with said he saw it as well. Foligno was ranked 3rd. - HonkFortheGoose
NHL network was talking about it and mentioned it. can't remember the other 2 they posted though.. |

Leggio is not an NHL goalie ! Good stats in the AHL do not make an NHL goalie . If so someone would have claimed him off waivers . He has glaring weaknesses to his game which will not go well in the NHL . Just because this guy is local . The fans of Buffalo want to keep bringing him up here . Buffalo management loves local guys , but they also know weaknesses . That is why he is not up here. |

I don't undervalue staff....he has some value, that much I'll agree. I guess I was more speaking to the i WON'T give up McNabb, Pysyk, Girgensons or any other top prospect philosophy going on around here. I think Staff in that deal may work but it would almost have to be accompanied with McNabb. Nobody wants to give a good prospect but Adam or Gauthier-Leduc won't get it done. |

I think this team would be better with Leopold somewhere else and Pardy in the lineup every day |
