I didn't think he was very good. But it's his first NHL game, so he get's a pass.

He wasn't great, but the Flyers were a positive when he was on the ice. Get 20 of them and you have a winner.

Well that's another way to look at it. It is a choice, no doubt. I have no idea how old you are. But I choose to believe that both you and I, have a lot of time left.

I'm still young but age means nothing when it comes to death.

What is a forward like Wellwood worth to another team as far as a draft pick goes? Anything?

I get mad at no effort. Dissapointed more than anything.

It's hard to accept such poor play from your favourite team but these seasons happen. There are no excuses, and everyone from the top of the organization down needs to do better.

I believe moves will be made and the team will be better next season. If they are not, then its time to point fingers imo. For now, its unfortunate but it is what it is.

He will get better the more he plays. I expected him to be rusty.

He fired a rocket from the point tonight. I thought for sure he scored and then McGinn had it on his stick and couldnt lift it.

Its an evaluation and growing year. Unfortunately they are choosing to learn those lessons the hard way.

If Bryzgalov continues to play well he will cement himself into the team and erase and questions of a buyout.

If Briere continues to not produce, one of my personal favourite players may be looking at a buyout.

Giroux has shown he is human and is still growing as a player, that needs talent on his wings.

Brayden Schenn, and Voracek in particular need to show what they have.

They suck, but with some good moves in the off-season they aren't too far off.

- flyer_nutter

I think Voracek looked good tonight. B.Schenn has 9 points in past 9 games, but he was pretty horrid defensively tonight. G misses Hartnell. I think we need another top 6 winger, preferably a bigger guy and a defenseman that can move the puck.

I like Wellwood. The kid has speed and plays well at both ends.

Giroux has been the biggest disappointment so far this year.

For the deal Voracek signed and where he is in his development he needs to show more, and do it more consistently.

I bashed Brayden Schenn at the start but he does look better lately.

I like Wellwood too, but if he can't get on the ice I'd get the highest pick we can for him. There's a few forwards in the same pool. I wouldn't do it yet, but I'd get some picks at the deadline.

When Voracek has more points and a better S% than Giroux ... something is definitely wrong.

Part of the answer has to be in here somewhere:

1. The C and the pressure that comes with it
2. Lack of conditioning in the off-season
3. Jagr gone
4. Wrist ailment post-surgery
5. Unknown injury
6. Lack of confidence
7. No chemistry with his linemates
8. Opposing teams and players are paying more attention to him/shutting him down
9. A down year after two spectacular years in a row
10. System change from management or due to lack of talent on the back end
11. Head/neck injury complications from incident in Germany during lockout

I think that is exactly what Holmgren decided to do when he dealt Richards and Carter. Or at least re-tool.

In terms of improvements, I would like to see them target one of Getzlaf/Perry if they are available. Attempt to trade for a young d-man with star potential, if they do not believe they have a chance at such a guy in the draft.

If those two fail you look at a guy like Streit or Giordano imo. If Perry or Getzlaf are not available, you either roll out the same offense or attempt to trade for someone not of star caliber.

For what its worth, I am just as interested to see how Coots, Brayden Schenn and Voracek do for the rest of the season.

Voracek needs to play with someone that goes to the net hard all the time, that's why I like him with BSchenn. Unfortunately no one was generating offense. I think a guy like Danny B would fit well as the third guy on that line but I don't know where he has been.

didn't get it done. letting carle go was also a gamble. moved JVR for a nice plyr, but not what we need...ok, i'm not gonna start that again. knew it would leave us short of scoring though.

I think a part of it is him learning to adjust to teams crowding him whenever he is on the ice. The other guys on the team need to realise it too, and not make everything so predictable.

Throw in some surgeries, a weird start to the season due to the lockout, unstable and inconsistent linemates and you have what you have now.

He needs to be better, but he is still fairly young. I refuse to believe the guy who has pretty steadily improved ever since he joined the team, and flat out dominated last season is the player we are seeing today. I think he will be better, but obviously it would be better if he did not wait till next season.

I dont really see 2 as being worth even listing considering he played and was putting up a ton of points prior to the neck injury.

I think it comes down to other teams focusing on him more and unlike Stamkos who has a few people to relieve the stress or Malkin or has Crosby and Neal the Flyers have no one. Im not saying they dont have some great or nice young players and some serviceable forwards.. Im saying they dont have anyone to keep other teams from focusing on Giroux.
