Lookup caps second goal and Carles ice time in that period after the goal.
- Just5

Been there done that. And you're incorrect on both statements. He wasn't benched, nor did he "lollygag" on a play.

They were counting on Meszaros for a lot this year. Unfortunately, he suffers the off season Achillies injury. And then gets hurt again. Look at the numbers he has. Even without being put in a top spot on the PP, and in offensive situations, he produced good offensive support from the back end. He's shown the ability to move up on the play and provide offense. He's been a 20+ minute a night defenseman, who won the Barry Ashbee Award as the team's top defenseman. That is a big piece out of the lineup. He has the ability. Just needs to get and stay healthy.
- MJL

I'm not sure what the odds are that he can remain healthy for long spans (especially given the voodoo curse on our blueline), but if the Flyers stick with him and he can it'd be great to see.

When a player moves to the end of a bench and remains there for a period longer than what his normal rotation would be. What do you call that. Seating?

He owned the Flyers for awhile.... until John "Convinced of My Own Genius" Tortorella eventually arrogantly overplayed that hand, and then publicly shredded his backup goalie.

I'd be happy to provide the TOI Report for TB from any game. Including the Capitals game. You'll see that in the period you are referring to, Carle's shifts were spread evenly throughout the period. Carle had 9 shifts in the first period, 7 in the 2nd. And 8 shifts in the 3rd period.

maybe it's an overreaction, but if the season ends up in the toilet (maybe even if it doesn't) i think they've gotta make a move with either him or coburn

they made a big move for luke schenn, so having two more guys that fit the "solid 2nd pairing guy with 0 offensive talent" is just too many. imo

wonder how much we could even get for grossmann (both he and coburn have limited ntc's)

- FlyerMike18

Just for fun:

Next season I would go with:

Coburn-Grossman
Kimmo-Schenn
Young d-man with star potential - Meszaros

But let's ignore their legacy of developing plenty of players that they drafted.
- MJL

that's a different subject, we're talking about their d...in fact, we've been lamenting this inability on d and in goal for too long w/ too little in the way of consequences. feel free to change the argument...

Grossman belongs nowhere near the top pairing. Theyre going to have to break up that duo.

Cool. Do you have a breakdown of the goal? Either way, I won't lose sleep over not paying Carle 5.5 mil over 5 years for his services. You shouldn't either. That's what this is about

One player makes the Flyers defense look a whole lot better. Easier said then done obviously. But I look at over time, how Holmgren has shown that he can acquire quality defenseman. I say give the guy a chance. He's earned that.

Don't be silly. During TB current 6 game losing streak, Carle has been a pillar of strength. He's rock solid.

I love the Coburn-Grossman pairing. They have size, and both have shown pretty good mobility. As a shutdown pair I love them. Putting them out with Coots is a great matchup imo.

I'd love that star d-man, but if the Flyers cannot find the guy, they will have to go with a more balanced attack on the back end, where each pairing plays pretty equal minutes.

In terms of shutdown d-men I think the team could be set for a while if they choose to be. Coburn, Grossman and Schenn are solid guys.

They need puck movers to balance them out. With Kimmo and Meszaros they only need one really.

Easy to find the replay of any goal. Carle got knocked off the puck. No defenseman is perfect. But there was a breakdown in coverage in front of the net. It's a team game. I was as big of a supporter of Carle as anyone. I know what they're missing from not re-signing him. But I was fine in looking at the big picture in not bringing him back.

Impossible. A big monster HE-MAN like Carle knocked off the puck? I'm not buying it.

I was watching the game. Carle glided back to retrieve the puck, and then got "knocked off".
