I agree with all of this. As much as I'd like O'Reilly for several reasons, there are a few very large question marks that he comes with. One of which, IMO, is his attitude. There's something about him that just doesn't sit well with me. - HonkFortheGoose
Point taken, but Peca and Drury had attitudes, too. And I'd make a deal with a crossroads demon to have either of them in our current lineup.
(Not really, but you see my point)
Edit: Sorry. I just saw Pairo basically said the same thing on last page. |

I agree. That's why I feel like it's something they should do. I would just hope that later on down the road it doesn't come back to burn us too badly either. Who's to say with his next contract that he isn't going to do the same thing?
As good as I think he's been and could be, I feel like asking for a jump from $900,000 to $5 mil is a bit steep. Especially when his career numbers aren't as good as Ennis.
All that being said, I still think he's the type of player this team needs. |

Agree. That really is pretty ridiculous. I wonder if it had more to do with Duchene's contract, rather than what O'Reilly thought his own worth really was. (?) |

Yep. He had fans, found his wife here and had a solid team. He saw his opportunity for a pay day and held out. Unfortunately he was dealing with the most stubborn, short-sighted GM in the league.
Peca was the first jersey I ever bought. As soon as I bought it he held out.
It was my fault. - Pairo11
Barnaby was my first jersey I ever got. He got traded a week later |

It all has to deal with that. A guy sees his teammate who hasn't done all that much get a big deal and he is like i wont settle for anything less. I get where its coming from. NHL is a business. |

So, I wonder if we traded for his rights, if he would accept less then? It's possible. That would certainly be the biggest Eff-You to Colorado he could do. A parting shot, if you will. |

He's the kind of player that every Cup winning team needs. He'll never score a 100 points (probably not even 80 points) but he'll bring EVERYTHING else to the table that you could ever ask for. And he'll bring it for 10+ years.
Not that Ryan Smyth ever won Edmonton a Cup but he brought them so much every year and he did it a long time. |

That would be funny stuff lol. I'm okay with his him making 5m seeing as Leino will most likely be bought out. If he isn't I will be shocked and I will eat a rock |

I hear you. My first let down was when Schoeny and Gare were traded. (I'm 41). Although, I grew to absolutely love Mike Foligno. |

I absolutely loved Barnaby on this team back then..
I think he got a little full of himself though. I think he, too, like Peca would do things differently if he had a chance. |

Every team needs a Drury, Smyth, or Peca type guy. Born leaders with skill on both ends. So I agree 100% with ya. That's why I'm surprised Col is playing hard ball |

He was one of the biggest fan favorites from what I recall. I liked Peca as well. I wouldn't mind either on MSG. Over some of the tools on there lol |

Just a quick look a their cap situation it seems like every year they're a lot closer to the floor than most teams. I have to question if their GM/ownership is cheap or lacking commitment.
Funny how hard it is to win a Cup or even compete if you don't have a Joe Sakic or a Patrick Roy on your team.
I think Jersey will feel the same when Brodeur is gone. |

Rayzor is doing a 'nice' job.
He does all the 'little things' right.
Seriously speaking now, I dont have a problem with Rayzor. |

But Duchene is getting 3.5. I can see wanting the same amount as him for now. Sign a shorter term deal for less and prove that you deserve the higher amount later. |

I heard he was looking for a long deal at 5m or a short deal at 4m. I wouldn't mind either as a sabs fan. I have been doing a lot more research on the guy lol and I love what he would bring here. I was first against ennis + for him and now I'm not. Thats coming from a big ennis fan btw |

Problem is they gave Stastny 6.6 and Jones 4, he out scored both of them. I kinda see his point in a way. They also have 17mil in cap space. |

Pominville scoreless in 5, Vanek scoreless in 3... - theblueandgold Whats the point? Vaneks hot streak is the reason why the other lines are doing well now.... Every teams best players are out there against Vanek which leads to the ennis line getting more chances.
His pace was bound to end eventually

Yeah, Stastny signed that deal in '08 and he's never lived up to it. Their mgmt has to be kicking themselves ever since. He's a $4m guy max. Talented but seems like he's always injured.
ROR is taking his kick at the can for a deal between Duchene and Stastny. I think he's young and will be worth every nickel of $5M.
Meh.... |
