I like Danny Gare's assessment of Myers. "He's out of shape and is struggling to skate and taking short shifts. It's his job as a professional to be in game shape".

He passed April 9th 2010

On April 09 HockeyBuzz lost an outstanding friend and contributor, JT
Swinehart, to a battle with pancreatic cancer. JT brought class, good
humor and wisdom to this site on Garth’s threads and elsewhere, and is
sorely missed by many.

In honor of their good friend, JT’s fellow
Sabres fans will be making charitable contributions to the Lustgarten
Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research – a leading light in the
battle for a cure of this deadly disease of any amount they are
comfortable with. Donations can be made online at https://www.lustgarten.org/SSLPage.aspx?pid=614,
and can be made anonymously if preferred. In order to have the donation
attributed to JT, please fill out the bottom of the page (Tribute
Information) “In honor of JT Swinehart.”

Of course donations
aren’t for everyone. If you would prefer to simply lend a kind word, a
thread has been set up for him at: http://www.hockeybuzz.com...read.php/?thread_id=76163.
Kind words are warmly welcomed

This is exactly why I don't understand why many people think the Bruins are the gold standard to imitate. Don't get me wrong. They won the cup 2 years ago, and deserve all the credit for that, but they needed 3 game 7's to do it. They hardly dominated. They're a great team, but there are others that I would rather model my team after before Boston. The Pittsburgh and Chicago builds win more Cups than the Boston types do.

How the hell can you compare the penguins and Chicago models as the ideal gold standard to build a team???
Pittsburg was on the brink of moving because they were so bad for so many years, then because they suck they draft Crosby and Mallon and stall etc, the list goes on and on. So I guess sucking the fat one for years and then getting great #1 picks is the model?
Hell Chicago did the same with Kane and toews.
The reason Boston is a model is that they are drafting wisely and make smart trades. We did draft Thornton but we messed that up before we got good and traded him away, we pulled a Burke, lol.
And kessel was a reasonably high pick but not a Crosby, Mallon, Kane, sundin pick.
So unlike your sabers we draft talent that isn't super high and develop it and make good trades and keep our core together opposed to sucking grabbing super high picks and coasting.
You sabers fans refuse to accept that the old school method of signing the biggest names out there at free agency and spending loads of money doesn't work, the rangers have tried that for years as well as many other teams.
It's building from within buddy!!!!

Yeah, that draft where you picked up Horton, Seidenberg, Thomas and Chara really laid the foundation for your cup run.

Horton was a good trade, Thomas was a nobody that we saw talent where no one else did. Seidenberg is and was a super underrated d man and chara and savard, whom you forgot about, were starting points because we didn't have anyone to build around at the time. What have your sabers done? Over pay for ernoff? And who beside Myers has been a great developmental player for you?
We have bergy, Kerejic, Lucic, Marchand, maquaid, rask from a trade for raycroft, seguin and Hamilton and knight for kessel, and many other players that were lower drafts that have become elite.
Lucic and Marchand for example not to mention the best two way forward in the league with bergy.

If the point is that a great gm makes good moves and that a great coaching staff develops talent then sure.
The bruins have a gold standard for BUILDING A TALENTED YOUNG TEAM FOR THE FUTURE AND TODAY. Few teams in the NHL WERE built the way chirelli built the b's.

You sabers fans are becoming as arogante as the Toronto fans. Even the Montreal fans can give respect to the b's, I can't stand the sabers fans from the last few years. You sign a few over priced free agents and suddenly you think your the elite beast of the east.

Lmao.

Fricken saber fan.
Your right.....we haven't won a cup in many many years and we are not considered one of the best teams in the NHL.
AND we are not loaded with talent that any team in the league wish they had.
You are clearly the logical thinker here, my deepest and most sincere of apologies.
Hope your homer glasses make the sharp sting of reality hazy my divisional friend. Good night.
