I doubt Anaheim does it, but I'd definitely consider it.

it's something to think about. i don't know that sbisa is any good. and b. schenn's best days are ahead whereas ryan, although not old, per se, is actually approaching the end of average peak age for scorers:

http://www.arcticicehocke...-points-per-game-peak-age

but, of course there are always outliers.

I can't see Anaheim doing that in a million years. Sbisa is a better prospect than Luke Schenn and Ryan is valued way higher than Brayden.
- NickTheKid87

Sbisa has become a real solid two way defenseman. He projects to be about what Luke Schenn does, in terms of slotting as a top 4 defenseman, but he's more mobile and has more offensive ability.

Bryaden Schenn has a ton of upside, but he's not going to fetch you Bobby Ryan. Big issue for me is working it under the cap.

Lot of Bryaden Schenn's cap hit is in bonuses that can be deferred or eliminated if not earned. Ryan's contract counts against the cap regardless.

Trade Scenario
Schenn Brothers for Ryan and Sbisa
Thoughts?

I wouldn't do it if I were the Flyers.

Seriously though... the difference in combined age (years) between that line and the Schenn, McGinn, Voracek line is a whopping 43 years

Imagine:
70's Line
Timonen-Lilja

Bryz in net

Thats a combined 215 year....

For what the apparent asking price for Ryan is, that trade would ened up being the Schenn Bros, a 1st + for Ryan and Sbisa. I don't know if I'd be comfortable with giving up more assets.

That's the really big stumbling block. I doubt that the Schenn boys are enough to land Ryan and Sbisa.

I'm cool with it because both Ryan and Sbisa are young enough that they'd be here for awhile. I absolutely don't want to trade youth for older guys.

Feel like the jury is really out on Sbisa. He's been heavily sheltered most of his time in Anaheim and as of now is their #5, at least according to TOI.

You know the rule of thumb, if you're ok with a trade proposal, that means it's never gonna happen!

He's third in TOI this year, behind Beauchemin and Allen. He's 4th on the PK.

Even last year, he was 5th in overall TOI, but he was a regular PK defenseman

Not true, I was ok with JvR for Schenn, would have liked to get more, but did say when the rumors started popping up that it would be acceptable

Nope, at least not right now. If thy end up as lottery team, that pick could land a better defenseman than Sbisa.

he's behind beauchemin, souray, lydman and fowler in overall TOI according to what i'm looking at, but he is 4th among their D on PK time as you noted.

edit: per game TOI as fowler has missed a half-dozen games and lydman a couple.
