Yes, the Flyers traded Impatience for Prudence. Not as much fire or sizzle in his game, but more to offer down the road than merely a flash in the pan.

no use squandering assets. homer fell short this past offseason, no use doubling down. let's see if they can pull out of this.

What happened to Timmonen? Glad I didn't watch this game. I am pretty sure that with the day I've had I'd still be cleaning up the pane of glass that my computer went through on its way to the front yard.

His new team absolutely could buy him out. But why would they trade for him if they were going to do that?
- MJL

A rental. Flyers offer Briere for a draft pick on condition he be bought out. could they actually spell out that language and have it legal under the new CBA?

Could put a team over the cusp.

Flyers get a pick, potential playoff team gets an offensive boost and the traded player is an FA.

Don't ignore the monetary aspect of the move. Sure a team could use a compliance buy out on Briere, they don't carry his cap hit, but have to pay him $3,333,333 over the next 4 years to not play for them.

Th right team with the right player for a low enough pick, sure. I just don't see that happening to Briere. And I also think we have about 5 more games before we get into sellers or playoff hopes.

So nice to see all the inanity come out of the woodwork after a loss.

Yes, Timonen re-signing for $6mm is high. No question.

The question is, if you're going to poop on that, who do you replace him with? None of this I don't know I'm not the GM horsepoop. You want to say it's a bad decision, then offer an alternative and show why it's a bad decision, given ALL the factors...mainly that there's nobody to replace him out there that can be had without gutting the young talent up front.

There's nobody in UFA as good as Timonen. And if you think Ron Hainsey on a 5 year deal at $5.5mm is better than Timonen on a one year deal at $6mm, then I have some bridges in Arizona I want to sell you.

What about the RFA market? Sure some gems there. Only one of them is worth the price of an offer sheet-Alex Pietrangelo-that wouldn't be matched by his current team and either be way too big a cap hit for the player, or way too high a price in compensation.

So please, roll out the alternatives.

They have more than 5 more games. Even a modest hot streak and they're right in the thick of things. They're 4-2-1 in their last 7 games. They do that over the next 7 and they're in good shape.

Briere is highly unlikely to waive his NMC, because of his family situation.

What happened to Timmo tonight? Saw the dreaded "lower body injury". Without knowing any details I'll guess another blocked shot foot fracture, cuz thats how they roll in Flyerland.

Trading Briere at this point is asinine. Let's get Mez and Hartnell back and hope Timmonen is a bad bruise from returning and wait until the off season.

They just gotta string together some wins. Win the games they should win and going a full 60 every night should help with that task.

even as currently consisted they're no worse than a bubble team. nothing good is coming via trade this season unless some team goes all knee jerk.
I was surprised to see Tokarski moved. Don't know much about Desjardins but I wouldn't have minded adding him to the minor league roster.

(frank) all this trade talk. Clearly what they need is a sheet cake.

From what I know about both they're similar. Tokarski is a bit more heralded, though

some bad bounces... Bryzgalof had a night where he couldn't cover to the stick side on what I thought were a couple saveable shots. I thought the D had an off night. Nothing horrible but general ehn. lot of the same. hard to point fingers.

Thanks for the wrap-up MAOT. I was trying to figure out what happened to Timmo. All I saw was lower body injury. Did anyone in here see the play where he got hurt?

I saw him play a lot two years ago. he's one of those guys who just wins games. 2-2 game you go up 3-2 and you can bank it. I liked him a lot. with goalies you never know what will translate. I always love a winner though. he may never play in the show but two years ago he had my attention.
