All your toughness is so freighting

Think it's fairly easy to show basic respect to people. Go thru the thread and see how it escalates. With one of the regulars being a condescending Richard to a guys post. Then spins out of control from there.
As for knee jerk reactions I agree with you but everyone different and just because you or me might not be prone to those type of reactions it doesn't make the person that is any less of a fan.
I don't care about one win, one shift, a streak either way it's a big picture thing to me. I don't like Torts and my reasons are over long haul pp, favorites with marginal players, burying other players, his constant whining, and all that could be overlook but one missed playoff, two first round exits and one conference final lost that took every good bounce, every ounce of teams energy to get there doesn't buy him the reverence it seems to with others.

so you want to fire Torts

Holy christ, can we get back to talking about the God awful power play. Plus, why has Sullivan not been fired?
- tomburton99

That PP was as bad as I've ever seen during that 5 on 3 & the 5 on 4 just after. Just brutal!

why does it still say you are a season ticket holder?

I thought you canceled that homie

- jimbro83

I did for this very reason. But I love hockey and don't get a chance to talk about it with people as passionate as myself as much as I would like. So I joined again tried to just post hockey but saw the disturbing trend that Pete V acknowledged and opened my mouth. Once I did even if I regret it, it's not in my personality to back down.

Spellcheck logic.....oops, I'm supposed to be moving on.

Lets say worlds collide & somehow, someway, in a ludicrous panic move Slats fired Torts. Who is the better option to replace him? He doesn't exist, thats why it's insane to even formulate that thought.

I hate to say it, but he might be the fastest skater in the league, faster than Hags, man that guy can zoom.

One he took over mid-season. The other, meh ok. And conference final loss that took every bounce? Every team needs bounces to win games and you have to put yourself in a position where you can win which he has done. And the thing that annoys me is this wow we are good, wow torts is terrible lets fire him after every game. Doesn't speak to fandom one way or another but it is annoying none the less. But apparently you dislike Torts even in the good times so thats your opinion and to each his own.

Speaking of Hags, what a player he is, huh? He doesn't have the traditional high-end offensive skills, but when you skate your ass off like that, you're going to create so many chances, that by extension you'll be productive. I wish Chris Kreider would use his speed the same way -- just watch Hags Kreider and try to emulate what he does, which is to take his business asset, skating, and use it to make him successful.

When he got that partial breakaway in OT, all i could think and hope for was for Staal to do anything to thry and slow him down.

I know right! All the rangers other issues would be minimized if they could just score on the god damn power play!!

That's a tough question. If it was up to me he would have never lasted that implosion against the Caps in first year. Incident with fan and messing with Avery when he was still key contributor. Then after they missed playoffs I would have fired him. But now after last season he has bought a little good will. But don't understand how he escapes any criticism and is beyond any thoughts of getting fired. Like the other person says about pp and Sully. It is Torts that has put him in that position and has allowed four years of unacceptable results to continue. I'm afraid we're goon wake up and miss Hanks prime, Girardi and Cally careers will be cut short by style of play and amount of ice time they get and have nothing to show for it. So answer in short after long winded response is no but he would be on a short leash.

if Hags has really added the ability to finish to his game, we got ourselves a bigtime player

He is not the greatest hockey mind ever. I'm not a gm so I don't have a short list of viable candidates. But look at Claude Julian and other recycled coaches. Sometimes right place and right time type deal. I felt team needed strict coach after Renney they might need more of a thinking coach after Torts.

First off they JUST hired him. He didn't even get a training camp with the team. Second, I'm sorry but the talent was not there to warrant havign to be amazing. Coaches need tiem to establish a system and team philosphy with their players. And I am really unsure how the last 4 years were unacceptable results. Is it reallt Stanley Cup or bust and we have a revolving door of coaches till one wins? That's not how you build a champion and knee jerk reactions year to year like that would have us not even sniffing playoffs.

EDIT: I can't type today and no I'm not editing this poop cause I have work

I love seeing a player get hot & really excel using his greatest assets like Carl is right now. I would def consider getting me a #62 blue jersey.

Hey I apologize for overreacting but just because I overreacted doesn't mean you guys aren't sort of clicky and snarky. It might be a generational thing I'm upper 40s you guys in early 30 if I had to guess. But peace anyways.

Actually, at Michigan, he pretty much was what he is now. I always though that he would be an excellent third line energy guy that can skate and kill penalties, but I am actually a little surprised by how much offense he has contributed.
