I can post the gif again if you like. What did Cooke do with his leg? Did it spasm out of control and just happen to come down on Karlsson's ankle? - tomburton99
If you've ever played or watched hockey you know that all Cooke did was use one of his legs to pin an opposing player against the boards. It's done in every game, the cutting was a poor outcome, but saying that he did it on purpose is redonk. He wasn't even looking, he was following the puck, while trying to keep Karlsson pinned.

Players never skate into a corner with one leg flapping in the breeze. But nice rationale though.
Do any of you actually play or understand the sport? - moondawg
Umm, I do. And yes, I think it is a little over board to say yea he did it, but based on how he put his skate down it looks like at the minimum he wasn't going to avoid Karlsons ankle if it happened to be in the way. If your losing your balance, you don't slam your skate down at that angle to regain balance. You'd put it down to hold yourself up. Thats how I see it.
Please name One other star player than Karlsson and Savard that Cooke has caused injury too. And no Ansimov and McDonough aren't stars. - moondawg
You just named 2...isn't that two tto many?? Think about the toll these injuries (we know one and won't know the other) have on their careers? And just b/c Anisimov and McD ESCAPED injury it doesn't mean the intent to injure wasn't there. Come on, thats a poor defense of someone who still collects a pay check from the Penguins...who lie, steal and cheat but get on their soapboxes when one of theirs gets banged around...
well, we are Americans right! so I know what you think.
Tell me expert, if you are engaged with a player and your left leg goes in the air as you go into the boards, what reason would you have to use force to put your leg down, and not just put it down? - jimbro83
Huh?
You do realize that this all happened in about 1.3 seconds right, not in slow motion like you are all watching it in.
You put your foot down fast cause you are off balance and I don;t know about you but to skate I need both feet on the ice? He was breaking away from him and therefore needs both feet on the ice, should he have done it in slow motion for you?

Don't you have anything better to do than to troll the Rangers blog defending Matt Cooke of all people? Maybe you should go burn your city to a crisp again, including all the police cars and short buses.

No I named one, Karlsson injury had no intent to injure. Savard is all there is.
Ahahahaahahaha, Lie , steal and cheat. Jeez man, did Cooke rape and pillage your town?

he could have put his leg down at any point while nudging Karlsson into the boards, but he decided to brooklyn stomp Karlsson's ankle. But Clearly he had no idea. That's he made not one single motion to play the puck at all. But clearly and accident.
Hey man, I'll agree that Cooke 's history is one to be frowned upon. But when he cleaned his game up 2 years ago after the Savard incident, he actually garnered some respect for doing it, and doing it successfully.
To be now blames for an accidental play is unfair.
On to tonights game. I agree that I think Boyle being scratched for 2 games will light a fire under him coming back tonight. Got to get a couple of early goals here & I think the Isles will fold. They are on the cusp of slipping away as usual, always seems they get off to a decent start & then have one of these 10-12 game losing streaks that cripple there season. Gotta win tonight. - B2B76
I really am surprised the isles may be falling to the bottom again. I was hoping that they would be really compeditive this year, would be good for them.
