First off they JUST hired him. He didn't even get a training camp with the team. Second, I'm sorry but the talent was not there to warrant havign to be amazing. Coaches need tiem to establish a system and team philosphy with their players. And I am really unsure how the last 4 years were unacceptable results. Is it reallt Stanley Cup or bust and we have a revolving door of coaches till one wins? That's not how you build a champion and knee jerk reactions year to year like that would have us not even sniffing playoffs.

EDIT: I can't type today and no I'm not editing this poop cause I have work

The four years result comment was meant towards Sullivan and Torts allowing him to continue running pp.. NHL coaches don't have long shelf lives in general and I'm not the one that decided that. As to the year he just took over debate. That's fine but team had big lead in series him throwing water bottle and fan and benching Avery at the time blew that series IMO.

Wasnt that the game Avery took a dumb penalty and the resulting goal turned the series around? How did he mess with Avery? He stopped being effective...

He did lose that series, IMO, and he obviously can be a bit of a self-important tool on occassions. But, so many coaches are like that. Indeed, I think the guy is an excellent coach, and there aren't five coaches in the entire league I would take over him.

And as for Sullivan, sure the powerplay sucks, but the team has been generally successful with these two coaches running the show, and the power play isn't the only aspect of the game of hockey. Sullivan has good points as well, so let's not throw the baby out with the bath water by just focusing on an incompetent PP. Just bring in another coach.

I wish torts would suck it up and just hire a 3rd coach. That would be the ideal situation. But Torts has said on multiple occasions that he thinks it confuses the players when there are too many people behind the bench.

Funny how the other NHL players are not confused because majority NHL teams have two assistants on bench.

Aw sorry did i offend you

I remember when there used to be Rangers fans. Now its just a bunch of flakes who think going 81-1-0 would be a failure and winning a cup is a walk in the park.

So after sparking team on numerous occasions that season and on numerous times with Rangers one dumb penalty and not his first you and Torts decided at that moment that was the end f his effectiveness. And Torts throwing water bottles at fan and getting suspended was brilliant.
