All joking aside , if I asked you would you prefer Bieksa or Shultz ,your answer would be Schultz. He has an awesome shot and great skater and can move the puck.
Bieksa too, can do that (not as well ) but he is also good at fighting , he can move players from in front of the net and be an all around Dman.
Shultz is a great offensive Dman and in 2 or 3 years will make 6 M .
Bieksa is an all around Dman and make less.
Now look at the standings. Which team is doing better. - VANTEL
In the end, that's all that matters, but pretending this has anything to do with Schultz vs. Bieksa (especially since our GAA isn't bad, our goaltending has for the most part been as good as yours and our GF is demonstrably AWFUL) is kind of silly.
We're sucking because our forwards can't put the puck in the net at 5 on 5. |

Wow, your arguments are all over the place.
I try to follow a train of thought. This is more like trying to find a constellation. - gzatron
I try to simple it down for those who don't think KB is a very good Dman.
I will dummy it down more for you.
You like the big sexy name Dmen.
Bieksa is a well rounded Dman
We are in the playoffs with our Dmen , you are not.
Is that better? |

During the Karlsson debates last year, there was a lot of debate about a certain type of defenseman getting all the kudos. Two-way guys are bound to get uneven consideration imo.
Indeed, I'd be interested to see that voting. If I had to guess, Dan Girardi was the only guy in the top 20 you'd be able to call a "defensive dman".
I'm not going to harp on the blog too much though, you didn't harp on Oilers dmen really. Although if Bieksa was on the Oilers, a Bieksa-Schultz top pairing would look UGLY. Him and smid might pair well together. - Morris

And some of that might be because they are too busy helping the D out or the D not moving the puck well.
outside J. Schultz and Petry, not many guys who can pass. |

Too funny - when did this thread become about Schultz VS Bieksa ?
I used Schultz name in regards to a Norris comment. Not in comparison to KB. They are very different players who hold very different value to thier teams.
Was Gretzky better than Messier etc?
differing styles accomplish very different objectives |

Schultz would have been an amazing signing, but I think he saw the long-term potential in Edmonton plus a top 4 role and getting to play with the first line and top PP unit. |

Myth: Fighting is an indicator of toughness.
Myth: Plus/minus is an indicator of defensive ability.
I agree that Bieksa is a decent defenceman and can take crap from the Canuck faithful, but don't massage random facts and figures to support your argument. Sometimes a player is just good at what he does. However, if you need figures to support your argument, maybe use some of the 21st century ones that exist, like WOWY, CORSI, etc. that'll give you and everyone else a more solid feel for his true value. |

Now you're just making poop up
People were pimping Gagner and Hemsky before the season??
There are things I like about our team, there are things our guys could improve on. I'm not going to deny that. You'd be a fool to deny that our scoring could be better and could come from more diverse personnel.
And lucky for us, this isn't the last season in the history of the NHL. Our window hasn't opened yet, but we've got time for it to open. |

Getting back to the original post .Bieksa is a way better deal than Phaneuf and Campbell
The OIlers and Leafs handing out contracts like a hooker hands out social diseases to sailors on shore leave.
Teams that hand out 6 mil contracts to third year players that have scored 22 and 27 goals will get what they desreve.
Bieksa who is a team player in evry sense is a much better Dman in every sense than the names listed. |

Truth is I dont bother with logic on this board.
I've tried to communicate rationally but the Nuckers are so quick to hate on anything said by the follower of another club that poking the bear has become the thing to do instead - gzatron
Generalizations make you sound ignorant, lazy and generally stupid. You're just trolling. You're not communicating rationally at all, please leave. |
