If you are looking at it from purely an offensive standpoint, you are correct. But, from a defensive aspect, Bieksa is stronger. I don't know how many times I've seen players skate right around Dion. If Phaneuf was able to play more consistently, I'd be willing to agree with you. Some nights he seems decent in his own end and others-he's just terrible.

No but they had to clear a roster spot and this way it frees up about an extra Mil (pro rated) for future deals.
