Wrong. How are the Oilers doing since drafting those guys? Can't Score, Can't win. Always near teh bottom of the standings. Besides the Leafs, one of the worse teams in the league for the past decade.

The Oilers are Terrible at breaking out of there zone "alot like the sabres". Clean that up and they would produce on offense.

But who knows if this team would still be here if Vanek wasn't resigned.... You can't let drury, briere, and vanek leave.

Looking back obviously we all say we would rather have those draft picks. But it is what it is

Hindsight, of course, is 20/20 but anyone that wouldn't take Hall, Nuge, Eberle and Yak in place of Vanek has their head screwed on backwards.

IMO Van wouldn't have fixed their mess so they would have STILL picked these guys anyways.

First of all.... there is no way of knowing that Buffalo would of had the first overall selections in any of those seasons if they would have had vanek.. .they might of had 10+ area of 1st rounders.. maybe EDM would have attracted more talent there with Vanek in the fold... or maybe Buffalo would have signed a big money UFA with the money that Vanek currently gets.... there is no way of knowing..

To say that if Vanek would have left that Buffalo would have automatically gotten Eberle, Hall, RNH, or Yakupov.. is just ludicrous..

I was just looking at the standings and points-wise the only two teams worse in the league are the defending Cup champs and lowly C-Bus. Even C-Bus recognized the disconnect and made a change.

If Buffalo were to play a 7 game series with any of the bottom feeders in this league RIGHT NOW Buffalo would lose the series. Things are THAT bad IMO...

exactly vanek would be worth atleast 5 wins a year so drafting first wit their pick unlikely with our pick maybe.

Your right. butterfly affect! they get and Vanek and next thing you know they get a superstar goalie, top defensemen, and Hemsky becomes the next Crosby.

Your lying to yourself if you think Edm. who was in terrible shape getting Vanek would make them a top caliber team.

We Definitely would have gotten picks in the top 10. No doubt about it. Not an opinion, A fact.
