Why is the O'Reilly to an Eastern Conference team not resonating with some of you. Just like the Getzlaf talk he isn't coming to the Hawks for obvious reasons. So please when does get traded please refrain from the "Bowman asleep at the wheel comments". The only for sure team in the Western Conference that will make a trade with another western conference team is Columbus...new GM just wants to blow it up and build for the future. Maybe Calgary but that is it. Aside from what most of you think no other team in the conference wants to help the Hawks. They are pretty much the envy of other teams with their talent.....right now. The bottom six of the Eastern conference is where you will find your partners in a trade.

Why not try Bickel back there? He has a good shot, could he be worst than 2?
- eagle50

Or try parking Bickell in front of the net during the PP.

I will say it again...,and if O"Reilly goes someplace and is asked to actually be a number two centre...O'Reilly si NOT a number two centre in the NHL...rally bis more quick than fluid, not a real offensive generator... ismply a really good smart wall guy that passes the puck well...

I am about to stake my ability to evaluate players on this....

I like so many things about him, but refues to be sucked into a hype that makes him better than he is...

I am no GM, but I know if I was, I am not losing my job over thinking that he is more than he honestly is. like oh, so many of you are....

Not one part of O'reilly I don't know and will take credit for scouting him as an early 2nd rounder when NO ONE else did, but, come on, fellas, come to your senses!

Again, each and EVERY one of you is dreaming that he is this player that is a notch above Bolland.

- wiz1901

2 factors, though: Bolland's back and other injury history. He has been better but you never know with that. Plus O'Reilly being 5 years younger. That to me is a big deal, too

JJ,

Any noise about the Hawks going after O'Reilly? Not sure they would want to trade within the conference but could you imagine the future with Toews and O'Reilly as our top two centers for say the next 10 years?

ESPN's Lebrun was on local radio today - said the Avs are looking for a top line player plus a key prospect. The Avs believe (and I agree) that he is at least a 2C on any team and, on a team with solid wingers, an easy 1C.

If ever there was a time for Bowman to make his mark it would be now - these opportunities rarely come along.

That's unfortunate. He's a big body at a low AAV with skill. Not bad in front of the net. Solid on the power play and good for 18-20 goals a season. Much of what the hawks could use IMO. Even had the game winner against the flyers this year iirc.

I would use Leddy and Seabrook at the point and make sure #7 shoots.

The need I was talking about is a screen setter....

I actually see Toronto making a big push for the play off so I don't know how much they will give up.

The next time Bowman trades a key prospect will be his first...

But beyond that who else is there to trade??

Leddy???....Because he would probably have to be included and then a couple of big time prospects....Most likely none from Rockford. So that means a TT, Saad, Danault etc....and maybe two.

Another team that may trade is the Sabres....seem to be spinning their wheels. Are there any untouchables in the Hawk system?

There shouldn't be, but with Stan seemingly just about all of them are.

I heard something kind of roundabout (as part of a conversation about another player) today that they might have some interest. Not sure really.

My feeling is, if he fills a need, you don't give a lick whether you traded him before or not. But, in truth, some GMs worry about optics more so than they should. The best GMs don't worry that much about being second guessed for their decisions. They deliberate, they act.

I recall some stuff about some guys in the room not wanting to see him leave, how will we replace what you did. Beyond that? Refresh me.

I am sure Stan would have as much enthusiasm as brouwer coming back. I am sure he would love to go from being respected and given a consistent job, to going back into Q's mindhump machine again. In hindsight, Stan did the guy a favor.

Untouchable in what regard...???

I would trade almost any prospect for a proven player that would fill a need today....In my view there are no elite players in their system but there are a few I would be hard pressed to give up.

As far as the Sabres....Their next big trades may come after Ruff and Regier are gone.

I agree with you but was just throwing that out there.I have noticed that Bickel and Stals have been setting up shop in front but that the shots never follow.Must get frustrating to put the effort into going there just to have the D not shoot.
